Geez, why THIS question? Lmao...I dunno. I love 'em both, but I personally think Hendrix, simply for the fact that just MAYBE if he wasn't around, MAYBE Clapton would have NEVER gotten the style he did.

But I don't really want to consider one of them better, they are both kick-butt musicians!! Whoo!

It's an interesting question because, in reality, I don't think either guitarist could play something that the other one couldn't also play; Hendrix could have played like Clapton and Clapton could have played like Hendrix.

I certainly enjoyed listening to Hendrix more, but that's just because I liked his bands sound better than most of what Clapton has done. I don't think one is better than the other.

Anyway, I'm not so much into the who is better stuff anyway. There are a thousand metal guitarists "better" than Tony Iommi, but they won't write riffs that influence other guitarists for 30+ years.

I voted for Hendrix. I think technically clapton is better, you know, a bit smoother playing, maybe a bit more tricky techniques, but then again hendrix have been a inspiration to so many musicians and I love hendrix' songs. He only got 27 years old, thats kinda amazing that he was so young and still that good, he created his own style you know, of course clapton also got his very own style, but hendrix was so young and I dont think he had that many other guitarists to get inspiration from, I dont really know just guessing. But yeah I love them both, tough question but I voted hendrix.

I'd have to go with Eric Clapton - as one of the greatest rock musicians ever - because he's one of the few who has gotten consistently better over time.

He may not be the greatest bluesman (and neither was Hendrix), but with 3 separate inductions into the Rock 'N' Roll hall of fame, his music will definitely stand the test of time.

The Yardbirds, Cream, Derik and the Dominos, and his solo work are classics.
