Heyy there GMC!

I was wondering,

What is your opinion about the red hot chilli peppers and what song do you think that is one of their greatest?

A song that I really found beautifull was Midnight.

Im courious for your opinion!

Well, I'm not a big fan of them, they're a bit too funky for my taste.
But I love their song "By The Way"!

Hmmm I'm a fan so I like a lot of songs. From top of my head I would say : Snow from the latest CD. But there are so many more cool songs.

I must admit I don't have any time for RHCP at all.... I respect them as musicians but they just sound too middle of the road for me and I'm amazed at how popular they are. I view the Foo Fighters in the same way.

I'm probably going to get beaten up for this now ohmy.gif

I like Blood Sugar Sex Magic a lot but the other albums didn't say something new to me. Also when I saw them performing live the only musician I really like is Flea!

i REALLY like the peppers, i dont have a favorite song, but Blood Sugar Sex Magic, is like one of the masterpieces of music to me.
Ben and Jerry check songs like "if you have to ask" or "my lovely man", they're lastest albums are simple and beautiful but on blood sugar they really play it hard!

Blood sugar sex magic is a freaking amazing album if you ask me, totally recommend it. From that album: if you have to ask, Power of equality and naked in the rain are great tracks. Great guitar playing!

Like Adrian I REALLY Like the Chili Peppers smile.gif

As for favourite songs mine would have to be I could Have Lied and Soul to Squeeze hands down. I just love the intro to Soul to Squeeze and well "I Could Have Lied" has some memories associated to it so it's more a sentimental favourite smile.gif

I think the early albums where much better, mothers milk, what hits, sex magic etc

After frusciante rejoined I thought they really went downhill and MOR

Although its not a very liked record I really liked one hot minute - I think it maybe my fav one of theirs

Red Hot Chili Peppers are a great band, I enjoy their music. Blood Sugar Sex Magic is a great one.
They have a refreshing different style of playing.

I'm pretty sure that the only songs of theirs that I liked (and frankly, love) are ALL on blood sugar sex magik. I get so tired of hearing their more recent work because I simply cannot escape RHCP on the radio. I also personally dislike some members of the band --or at least the image that they present-- which makes it difficult as well.

Add to that, the um... hrm. californication and aeroplane tunes? That time peroid, all those tunes rubbed me the wrong way; like all their stuff was intended to fill this formula:

1. Combine higher ground + Under the Bridge
2. ???
3. Profit!

I do, however, carry boatloads of respect for their tenure & influence as a popular act and that outweighs what little actual enjoyment I get from their music anymore. Just my own opinions, of course.

TL;DR version: "They're a great band that I don't like anymore." smile.gif

RHCP will always have a special place in my heart. When I was very littly, my older cousin came to the states and wanted to go buy the new RHCP CD that came out. When he brought it home, we both listened to it and that pretty much started me on the path to rock music. Very soon after, I started exploring classic rock, classic rock became into classic metal which made me pick up the guitar (12 years go!) classic metal brought me to power metal which finally landed me on progressive rock and metal/all sorts of jazz/classical.

thats my story haha

Since I played in the band that started out as a tribute to RHCP band, I played lots of RHCP songs throughout the years. I like most of their songs, they are mainstream and cool for listening. Haven't listened them myself from high school tho tongue.gif But I can enjoy their songs when I hear them, and the last stuff I listened was Stadium. It's pretty cool album with some nice songs. All in all, they were a good band. I don't think they will do anything now once John left the band, only live on "old glory" for a while.
