nobody has mentioned SOLDANO, I'm suprised. I'm a Marshall fan myself but would love to play through some of these riggs!

You ever stop and say... "If I could have this amp I would be done buying amps forever"?

I MAY have already found mine... I like my NOS Blues Junior so much I have yet to hear an amp I like more. I still wanna play around with some Fender Twins but that is the only thing I can think of that might impress me more. What is your final amp? Do you already own it? Or will you never find it you think? I wanna know!

Hardtail

dont have my final one but I'm planing to bay it
as soon as I'll have the $$$ but I'm steel dont know what to buy???
I want to buy something that would remain for a life time and I'm willing
to pay as much as it cost... sens I want something really good it will take some time
but I rather do it once then buy and sell... so when I'll have it I'll let you know smile.gif

I've played many different amps including most Mesas, Marshalls etc and have decided my two favourite amps are:

Krank Revolution
Peavey 6505 (or the 5150, which was the original)

Which is why I'm trying to save my pennies to buy one of them, when I decide which is better!

You have a Krank Revolution? blink.gif
Can I rob your house? tongue.gif

How much did you pay for it then? Would you say the Genz Benz amps are better?

I was looking at some Genz-Benz amps, they sounded pretty good from sound files and look interesting on paper, have you tried them or anything?

I sort of have my dream amp now, and it took many years to finally find it. What qualifies as a dream amp obviously varies from person to person, so let me first say why this is my dream amp before I say what it is.

I wanted:

1) A TUBE AMP for the dynamics and penetration (my solid state amps were always drowned out by the other guy's tube amp)

2) An amp that would deliver very high gain (psycho gain) that was punchy, and has tight bottom end for very clear intricate rhythm work. It also had to be a good amp for being able to deliver a variety of solo tones ranging from sparkling clean to (again) psycho gain.

3) I wanted the option of high gain at bedroom sound levels. I didn't want to HAVE to use a powersoak.

4) Channels: I LIKE channels... I like tweaking them and switching frequently when I play, just for all the tonal variations. I wanted to be able to switch all channels remotely, and I also wanted to be able to program them with switchable tone shaping options. This amp has FIVE discrete channels with a multitude of switchable tone shaping features. Also, one of the channels is a complete bypass of the amp's preamp. This allows me to connect any preamp I want, and the amp will treat it as it's own preamp.

5) Connectivity: I wanted one amp that would serve more as a nerve center, with lots of connection options. The list is too long here, read about it yourself on the ENGL web site if your are interested.

The amp that covered all of this and more is the ENGL Special Edition E670. Mine is the EL34 version. Like I said before, I'm not really worthy of it, BUT I will grow into it. Finally, I wanted quality... this amp (knock on wood) seems like it would last a long time, as it is really built like a tank.

The huge downside to this amp (the only downside so far) is the cost. I'm not here to brag or sway anyone this way or that. The bottom line is that this amp delivers exactly what I have wanted for many years. The other bottom line is that it costs a small fortune.

Oh ya, and a few noted users are Steve Morse, Vinnie Moore, and Marty Friedman, but there are many more.

A.
