thing with smoke on the water is you can really toggle with it to say its such a catchy tune..... i think i started on the A string.....but then i just read up about powerchords, i played in powerchords and it sounded so much chunkier...

Its amazing, the first time you play something on guitar you say to yourself "Hell yeah i made that noise".....and its nothin no one can ever take away from you biggrin.gif

I never really learned a song all the way through until I did "Sweet Child o' Mine" for a show. But the first riff I learned was "Bad to the Bone." :sun

I haven't learned a full song yet but some parts of different songs though. The first song I tried was "Nothing else matter" and of course "House of the rising sun".

Oasis Wonderwall. I started on the accoustic. great easy tune that rewards you with sounding like the real thing quite early on opon learning the tune.

Also smells like teen spirit Nirvana. my first elec track

Wish you were here - Pink Floyd.

I guess that listening to Floyd was what made me want to play guitar, and I still strive to play like Gilmour. I can play quiet a few licks and riffs but I still take Dark side of the moon, Wish you were here and the wall as my primary inspiration.

Nerver realy learned a first song, I just wrote them.

The frist one. I think I was around nine or ten years old.
sounded like TIME IN A BOLTTLE.
The next one I wrote some were in those years. Every one loved it till 2 month later. The BEATLES came out with BLACK BIRD. It has all the same chords, same picking but the song is
aranged different.
I have stock piles of songs on tape. from the early years. Plus new ones threw the years to today.
people love to hear me play them. mostly girls.
Three years later at an out side party playing. I'll run into a girl I used to know and she'll say can you play my fravote song for me? And I'll say which song? Like some how I wrote it with her in mind. "dah"

Most of the guys, guitar players just say how in the world do you come up with that stuff.
I just say, I play what I hear in my head. Then they ask me if I will give them lessons.
I'm a likeable guy, my head fits threw doorway. I like people. But I think when you do your own stuff. you really get a satifaction , you have to feel it for your self.

What I think would be neat to start on here is to start an introduction to a orginal song or idea to a new song.
may be have 2 or 3 songs going on at the same time.
one person starts it and then let other players add to it. The one who sounds the neatest or best ideal part. Gets that part put in. Then on to the next ideal for the song.

I used to do this to students to stretch their minds. To go off into differnt directions. So they would think of multible possiblities.

I have writen songs that can go off in ten differnt directions. Or what i call multi layering.
And out of those ideals you can write new songs out of them.

I'll have to submitt this ideal to the sysop. and see what his ideals are on it.

don't mind my spelling . I'm going threw a stage of getting new glasses every month or so. Till these eyes adjust to glasses. Sucks getting old
