I lost my credit card right about the time my subscription was to renew.

I have been a member for almost a year and i feel neglected that I am forced to resubscribe and pay the increased price all because I changed credit cards on paypal.

So, I emailed Maria, Kris and could not find any other GMC staff that was helpfu with this issue. All I was told to do was resubscribe at 29 a month, which is triple what I was paying before

I thought this was great community and that the support crew would treat their customers better.

Again, I got a new DEBIT CARD. I CHANGED IT IN PAYPAL, then they cancel my subscription.

I love you guys and I will miss this place more than I can express in words but I think it is unreasonable for me to be switched to the new rate based on this billing issue.

I left for pretty much the same reason biggrin.gif But you can still be on the forums... My credit card needed to be renewed, and it took pay pal too long so I too had to get the NEW subsription and I'm never going to be able to afford that.

I am not going to even use the forum anymore. This was my most visited site. I change my credit card IN PAYPAL and I all of a sudden a new-subscriber with a new rate?

Muris, Ivan, Pedja, and Emir: You guys have helped me grow as a guitar player more than you know. So thank you for your time and support.

I will wait a two days but I have my next site to subscribe to lined up and ready to join. This is in your hands now.

Also, I cant ask an instructor, I cant download GP tabs, I cant watch video segments .No reason for me to come here anymore.

Sad to see you leave - I wish you good luck in your life and guitar playing!

As for the payment issue I am wondering if there has been a misunderstanding? If you do not cancel the subscription yourself (ie paypal does it) we always offer the alternative to pay for one year in advance at the old one-off price. If you have any further questions about payments please turn to [email protected]

Your reason is valid man, but don't be bitter man, things like this happens all the time in all places and situations, i don't think it's your fault or gmc fault, just the wrong thing in the wrong time.

Everyone gotta play by the rules, that's why this is such a great place, if they offered the same price but yearly subscription, you should had take it, now u are going somewhere else, and i know - from experience - there is not guitar community site like this.

Anyway, good luck.

I agree that the "new" subscription fee is too high.
I understand that the site has obviously grown since a few years back, more instructors (=more lesson), more features etc., and someone has to pay for the increased expenses associated with this.

But being a student I too just can't afford it, even though I really want to get back..
It's always sad to see people leave due to the pricing being too high.

Similar thing happened to me but I was able to contact Maria (I used the pm system and email) Once I contacted her she quickly sorted it for me and I paid the old price.

It always pays to talk, if this was a genuine mixup at paypal then I am sure that Maria and Kris will sort it out for you. The site and their business I am sure needs loyal members/customers.

Dont give up on it and of course it will always be good to see you in the forums.

I remember about a year or so ago I found GMC. I looked at the price to join and it was the lower price then. I wasn't able to join then because I didn't have the internet. But when I got the internet, I looked into signing up. I saw that the price had gone up. It's sad to see the prices go up, but if it means making this community better with more instructors and features, then let's have at it! I just hope it doesn't go up again anytime soon. Right now, the price isn't too bad. Until I get some money saved really good, I'm going to be paying the 1 month subscription, then move up to the 3 month, and finally the year. But that will take some budgeting.

Sad to see you go man.

But before you go, you should consider a few things:

29 bucks for a whole month doesn't seem a lot to me at all. I don't know how is it going in other countries, specifically in USA, but here in Hungary you have to pay aroung 10-15 USD for a 45 minutes for an average personal instructor. If you visit your guitar instructor on a weekly basis, you would pay min. 40 USD-s a month. And a lot of times you'll regret going to a personal instructor, because they're always forcing their own things, and sometimes they are not qualifyed enough to do the teaching. Here at GMC you can spend a whole month learning from the instructor you want, you can also switch, or learn from dozens at once. That's 24 hours daily for a month. And you are not stuck with one style, you can learn almost any style here. 29 USD-s doesn't seem a lot for me at all...

Another thing is the community. You can make friends, and share anything you want with us. That's literally anything.

The greatest of all is the helping hand of Kris and Maria. I had dozens of small problems here at GMC, and I mean TONS, and I could always rely on their help.

Perhaps if you would try just a little bit more with them, I'm sure you will handle this issue.

But .it's up to you, I can only wish you a good luck with anything you decide

Cheers man.

I got caught by the price change. I had been a long time subscriber, but I used to not let it automatically resubscribe, I would just do it myself manually every 6 months. I did that for 2 1/2 years. I was not aware of the change and last November lost my advantage of being a long time member.

However, recently I resubscribed anyway, and immediately my progress jumped significantly. While not the price I was getting, I grant that you still get a lot for the money. Water is like that also. I mean, if they doubled the price of water, and you quit buying it, after a bit you would pay the higher price, and still figure you are getting a lot for your money.

We are sad to see you go!

A lot of things have been said in this thread, but I wanted to add one thing that you should consider.

GMC has changed a LOT!

We all have to realize that most of everything involved with this site is not free - it all costs something.

Over the last two or three years GMC has grown by many thousand percents in EVERY aspect and it only makes sense that the cost to be here and use all of the resources goes up.

Even with the said, $30/mo for all the guitar lessons you can possibly learn? I paid a personal instructor that much every WEEK! Not to mention we have lessons from so many different instructors at every level and in every genre!

In Hungary for 30 USD/once a weak you can get a professional, internationally recongnised guitar instructor like Tamás Szekeres for example biggrin.gif That's 120 USD/month.

Did I mention Emir or Muris here? biggrin.gif biggrin.gif biggrin.gif
Or Ivan, he's absolutely the best!
