Some of you my have noticed I've been away a fair bit. I'm actually in the process of moving and setting up a workshop for building guitars (with unluck I can quit my "real" job in 12-18 months)

What I will do soon tho is make a post about setting up my little guitar building workshop and what I'm building and what not. Sounds fun hey.

My theory is if it doesn't work then I'll just end up with alot of guitars for myself and I figured that was probably going to happen anyway

With the import charges on guitars in Australia I'm sure you can get a good business going if you find the right market.

Glad to see someone taking a chance on something they love!

Are you just going to build up a quantity and try to sell? You should also try to take requests.

My local luthier does like a 3 installment kind of deal. He takes your request with the price of wood down as the first payment, then parts for the second payment later down the road and then the cost of labor when it's finished.

Best of luck!

The plan is to make a small amount of stock so people can see my work and some of the styles I'm currently designing but yeah the idea is to make customs but if some designs seem popular I might go ok I'm taking orders for this guitar in any wood or specs you want. easier to make the same cuts on a bunch of the same guitar is easier and cheaper than doing one offs. but still a option. so yeah semi custom work to make things kind of affordable. and then there is the custom stuff where you name it I'll make it.

This sounds good Myth! I wish you all the best with this new project. I think that custom made guitars are becoming more and more important. Uniqueness is something that we the musicians value very much, and having a unique instrument feels so good and can bring a lot of inspiration.

Have you seen my video testing guitars of the luthier who made mine?

This is the thread: HERE
