GMC Forum _ CHILL OUT _ What Strings?

Posted by: Matt23 Jan 24 2009, 10:09 PM

Just wondered what the most popular brand of strings is on GMC. I use Ernie Balls. What strings do you play with? smile.gif

Posted by: Canis Jan 24 2009, 10:11 PM

Earnie Ball as well, 11's =)

Posted by: Bogdan Radovic Jan 24 2009, 10:18 PM

So far I use Carvin strings and I love them!

Martin and d'Addario - both .009" smile.gif

Elixir, without a doubt (nanoweb)

I prefer superlight or hybrid 009-046 smile.gif

Always played with standard 0.10 d'addario's on my Ibanez, and since I have my Fender, I play with pure nickel blues DR strings 0.10.

Elixir here, other brands wear out very quickly for me.

Posted by: Muris Varajic Jan 24 2009, 11:11 PM

Elixir as well, can't live without those. cool.gif

Daddario 10-46, nice and bright, and never breaks. I buy them in 3in1 packs and change often.

Posted by: UncleSkillet Jan 24 2009, 11:39 PM

Ernie Ball super slinky 9-42. Sound great and I am a tight wad with my money so 3.99 a pack is cool.

Posted by: Ramiro Delforte Jan 24 2009, 11:56 PM

D'Addario 09
biggrin.gif

I usually get Blue Steel's whenever i can find them.
But my favourite strings of all time was a pack of Snarling Dog's 09's i had years ago.
Problem is that local stores dont carry them anymore sad.gif ..i could always order them from outside the country, but i'll rather save that extra money and go for the next best thing smile.gif

D'Addario Jazz/Blues/Rock 11~49

Posted by: Enucleation Jan 25 2009, 12:26 AM

Ernie Ball but Id like to try Elixir.

Posted by: Outlaw2112 Jan 25 2009, 12:39 AM

DR Black Beauties 9's... ive tried many strings and these are my favorite

Posted by: Guitarman700 Jan 25 2009, 01:01 AM

Please Add GHS, The only strings ill use!

Posted by: enforcer Jan 25 2009, 01:56 AM

D'addario 0.11, it is cheap, sounds better imo, but corrodes pretty fast, thats why I wipe over and under of them quite often with a microfiber cloth, and always store my guitar on its hard case when I am not playing it. This way, string stays without corrosion two times longer then normal...

Posted by: Disturbed21 Jan 25 2009, 01:56 AM

I use elixirs. I'm still using my first pack i got a few months ago and they're the same as when I took them out of the Box! I love these Strings biggrin.gif

I use Ernie Ball 009 thru 042 on my guitars with a standard Eb tuning, and 009 thru 046 on my drop D tunings.

I have used EB's for a long time. I like the consistency of quality and thats really why I stuck with them.

Oh yeah..... the price is good too smile.gif

Have you tried fastfret mate?

Makes regular nickel plated strings last twice as long, and stay more fresh in sound.

Ernie Ball usually, have to do some more experimenting with other brands in the future though.

I use Elixir, but I´d like to try Ernie Ball tongue.gif

I do like Elixir a lot (specially tone and durability). I just think they are a little bit hard to bend...

Posted by: David Wallimann Jan 25 2009, 02:38 PM

D'Adarrio for me. :-)

Posted by: audiopaal Jan 25 2009, 02:48 PM

That'll make...2x2... 4 times longer life for you strings!

Posted by: The Uncreator Jan 25 2009, 04:08 PM

Dean Markley all the way, They have the best tone I think, And they don't break on me like most other string brands do.

Posted by: Scorpiotic Jan 28 2009, 10:58 AM

Both Earnie Ball Super Slinky (09-42) and D'addario (donno which, came with the guitar tongue.gif)
Anyone have any recommandations for good metal/rock/blues strings? ^^, tongue.gif

D'Addario 11's and 12's for my Electrics!
I did use Dean Markley Stainless Steel strings for a while... lovely bright Tone but very brittle so I used to get a lot of breakage!

I use Martin 10's or 11's on my Acoustic instruments!!

I've started using 0.10's DR, and they are great! They sound really good, i recomend them.

Posted by: Sollesnes Jan 28 2009, 04:38 PM

D'Addario regular 10s. Feels great (when they've been played on for a few hours), sounds great, and never break. smile.gif

Posted by: fatb0t Jan 28 2009, 05:12 PM

GHS, DR

Posted by: Marcus Siepen Jan 29 2009, 12:55 PM
