I dont know how many of you find this interesting, Physics and stuff of the sort, i find it very intriguing, anyway, Astronomers found a record breaking "Super Massive Black Hole" (there are normal black holes, then theres super massive, the difference...one is super massive) that is 24-33 times the mass of our sun.

We have a fairly big one at the center of our galaxy, but apparently its not big enough to pull us away from the sun

Yeah, I know, I read some new theories about those type of black holes, but I can't remember what it was all about...

Some have to do with the "Big Rip" theory.

Apparently, some scientists think that by aiding the process of each galaxy spreading apart, along with the universe at a rate of constant expansion (which has gotten much faster), it will eventually (5-10 billion years from now) spread to a point where it literally rips the galaxies apart, atom by atom, every sun, planet and lifeform.

Of course this is just a theory of how the universe might end.

Interesting theory.

Btw anyone ever thought about how cool it would be if earth just suddenly went another direction, like really super fast? We'd probably die fast, but damn. Imagine that, drifting away from the sun laugh.gif

Well, we are moving at 1000 mph at the equator, if stopped, imagine you suddenly accelerating to 1000mph, or if the earth moved in the oppostite direction, imagine everything in the world in front of you, all the waya round the earth, come at YOU at 1000mph.

Some people would have entire mountain ranges come at them at 1000 mph! laugh.gif

If by alright you mean avoid destruction, then yeah. Throughout its history the earth has been bombarded with meteors and the like, monsterous eruptions of volcanoes destroying entire islands all that cool stuff, and its very possible it could happen again. But generally, we have technology to help us detect these threats. So hopefully we can avoid them wink.gif

Not entirely sure what you mean by "that we're helping it in what way?", generally i dont think humans are treating the earth too good, although its getting better. smile.gif

What did you learn tonight?
while shouting so loud, you barely joyous, broken thing.
You are a voice that never sings, is what i say.
You are freezing over hell
You are bringing on that end you do so well
and you can only blame yourself, is what is say.

Black Holes get bigger as they inhale planets, stars, and other matter. This supports the theory that all life will eventually be ended by Black Holes. Which makes sense. Given this article, Black Holes ARE getting bigger.

I support the theory that all life WILL eventually be ended by these monstrosities. It will by no means be anytime soon, probably trillions upon trillions upon trillions of years, but Black Holes will consume all.

The only question now is what will happen to time? wink.gif

On top of Black holes, we also have Gamma Ray Bursts, which is like the single most metal thing in the universe.

Basically, a massive star collapses, and some of its energy resists going into the black hole that is created, and beams shoot forth out in random direction, one of these beams, from what i have been told, could pretty much melt earth.

Weird.
