Hi,Cosmin.
There is no explanation in this lesson and I would like to ask.
I see G maj scale it is clear.
But I am not sure that I understand what it means:

For any given major key there are seven possible modes:

1) Ionian, starting on the first note (a basic major scale);
2) Dorian, starting on the 2nd note (minor sounding);
3) Phrygian, starting on the 3rd note (minor sounding);
4) Lydian, starting on the 4th note (major sounding);
5) Mixolydian, starting on the 5th note (major sounding);
6) Aeolian, starting on the 6th note (minor sounding);
7) Locrian, starting on the 7th note (diminished sounding)

How should I use this information?

Hi,Cosmin.
I would like to ask.
In one of the lessons I saw the scales, for example C minor.
But in the description was stated that a guitar should be in a drop C tune.
That is why the scale is stated in standard?

Hi,Cosmin.
I am not ready yet.
It is not so clean to be recorded.
I am doing with a pleasure.
I spent a little time for learning and understanding your explanation of the scales.
If I understood right these modes are always the same but there are two differences :
- when I begin playing the scale from 6-th string in drop tuning string
- when I begin playing from the 3-d string.In this case I should shift the mode on the 2-d string in a half tone.
And I have some thoughts about Lidian, Dorian and others same scales.
For example C Lidian. The scale is the same E minor(F#), but the key note is C.It gives in C major a minor sound.
Something like this.
So I have to remember a major mode which I did and 6 modes(Dorian,Phrygian,Aeolian,Mixolydian,Lidian,Locrian)
Ionian is like a base.

Hehehe - no problem, take your time mate! smile.gif

Now, you kind of guessed it with the modes tongue.gif You should first know that Ionian - natural major scale

The other modes are as follows:

Dorian - starts on the 2nd note of the natural major scale
Phrygian - starts on the 3rd note of the natural major scale
Lydian - starts on the 4th note of the natural major scale
Mixolydian - starts on the 5th note of the natural major scale
Aeolian - starts on the 6th note of the natural major scale
Locrian - starts on the 7th note of the natural major scale

So let's a try this simple exercise biggrin.gif What is the natural major scale from which we deduce G Lydian? smile.gif

Hi,my pod hd 300 stoped working.
I sent it to service and now I should play into
Ampli tube 3.
I think it will go on 3-5 weeks.
Well,about G scale.
The natural scale is G-A-B-C-D-E-F#-G
Lydian starts on the 4-th note.
for G scale it will be C#.
So: G-A-B-C#-D-E-F#-G

Than for Dorian the 2-d note should be A#.
But on the web site I saw G-A-Bb-C-D-E-F-G.

I would like to understand.

Hehe! Mate - the assumption about G Lydian being G A B C# D E F# G is correct.

But my question was what natural major scale has G Lydian - so that means, G should be the 4th step for a major scale which I want you to find out - ok?

So, it is the 4-th note from D maj
D-E-F# -G - A-B-C#-D.

So G Lydian is like D maj.
One difference is the key note.

It seems a puzzle.
I see that in music everything is a correlation and a causation.
It is interesting.
I feel like a little boy making first steps

Hi,Cosmin.
Unfortunately my pod hd 300 will be ready in two weeks and my computer's Ampli tube makes many background noises.
It doesn't allow to record video.
But it will be all right soon when I get my pod from the service.
I tried to do my homework as good as I can.
I think we can go further.

Hi,Cosmin.
You showed a very interesting way to understand scales.
I got it.
The base scale is C maj.
The 4-th note is F(Lydian) it forms G maj G-A-B-C-D-E-F#-G
The 4-th note from G maj is C,so Lydian G forms Dmaj D-E-F#-G-A-B-C#-D
Lydian D forms Amaj A-B-C#-D-E-F#-G#-A

If I think right Lydian maj scale forms 5-th note maj scale from key note.
For example C maj,5-th note is G,so C Lydian maj forms Gmaj.

Then I can continue.
5-th note from A is E.So A Lydian forms E maj.
4-th note from A is D.So Emaj : E-F#-G#-A-B-C#-D#-E.

5-th note from E is B
4-th note is A.
So E Lydian forms B maj : B-C#-D#-E-F#-G#-A#-B

There are all maj scales here.
Is this right?

I would like to take some time and explain the circle to you, would you like that? It is a VERY useful tool for applying theory in real contexts biggrin.gif
