GMC Forum _ CHILL OUT _ Is It Strange For A Guitarist

I mean, first I hated this kind of music hardcore, that kind of stuff. I still dont like it alot, but I like it from time to time, when the time's right for example: You probably reckognize it, it's a remix of an old classic:D I just love the beat and melody, espescially from the sung/spoken intro. Is this wrong? I got no clue what kind of genre this falls into. The lyrics aren't even that weird, Excerpt: Near a tree by a river There's a hole in the ground Where an old man of Aran Goes around and around And his mind is a beacon In the veil of the night For a strange kind of fashion There's a wrong and a right

This is wrong, this heritates from 80's synth pop and completely unacceptable if you're a metal head
Compared to this I even prefer the original

There is nothing interesting for me in this music but if you want to look for some cool looking girls then you gotta visit places where they play this stuff You'll have less chance on a jazz concert
Posted by: Jesse Mar 11 2009, 08:24 PM
Emir, then theres something interesting in it isn't it!:D Haha, I feel kind of lame:(

I have to admind before listening to metal, this was my favoured music Nowadays I find it kind of funny how I could listen to this. It's is good for dancing in clubs, though. However I prefer headbanging in a metalclub

Being a house music DJ for the last 10 years i find nothing wrong with being a dance music fan as well as a metal head. this tune is ok in a cheesy euro pop way and i certainly liked the original when i was younger.
Posted by: DeepRoots Mar 11 2009, 09:11 PM
The only time i want to hear music like this is when there's a little bit of blood in my alcohol system and i'm shouting at the floor.
So a couple of times a week.
I don't have anything against it- it just helps the mood of the nightclub and i must admit going out wouldn't be the same without it. Having said that you won't find it on any of my playlists on my pc.

Neither on mine;)

I hate dance music personally. Although maybe half of it is because it reminds me of chavs.. but no seriously it just doesn't sound good to me at all, especially modern stuff. Truth be told i'd rather listen to like 80s stuff then what they are playing today. But of course i'd pick metal anyday .
I love different styles of music though, hell i even really like classical but not dance, techno, hardcore, pop, r&b, hip hop etc etc all that kind of stuff i just really don't like!

Dance music ain't that bad, I dig certain vocal trance songs, though I have certainly left far behind the times I actually listened to that stuff in discos/walkman.
But to this day I much rather hear this kind of music when I'm out in a pub than the horrible stuff that they tend to play over here...
So, to sum up rock (metal, etc) > Disco > The usual late pub music. Just my 2 cents.

Emir is right
I don't find almost anything interesting in this music besides the fact that people dance to it now days. I seriously believe you can learn to make this music in one afternoon (samples + software and you are all set)

That was awesome hahaha
I don't mind dance music at all. So what if it's simple, so is AC DC.

I like Electronic music. Its just one of the many music I enjoy on a daily basis. Breakcore, Trance and all that are all good stuff for me. I stopped caring what I should like by what instrument I play. Its ridiculous and childish to ignore something just because it doesn't have guitar.
Posted by: Ivan Milenkovic Mar 12 2009, 01:27 AM
I respect DJs and electronic music cause it's an art form, and people often underrate it. It is rhythmically based but make no mistakes - it is very complicated to make a good sounding song in house, trance, drum&bass or other styles. I've made some electronic projects and it is not that simple, people practice to be DJs very long time. Also, making a project at home is one thing, and doing it live is completely another. To put things simple - It's different music all together, completely different rules apply then in rock music for example.

Yes that's right Ivan. They pretty much are taking care of different machines, even hundreds for someone like Tiesto or Armin Van Buuren, who has to keep everything on the groove and keeping things aligned. Having a sense of rhythm and multi-tasking takes so much hard work. Its not just copy and paste easy stuff. There just constantly keeping things in motion, and making it look so effortlessly really blows my mind.. more than shredders nowadays.

100% true, spot on. The simplicity of the music is a two edged sword. Artist must be able to balance the dynamics of the track for a very long time and keep it entertaining, which is pretty hard thing to do with just short samples.

Is it wrong for one man to love another.....man's kind of music? No. I love dance music. I looked for one of my favs by VH and could not find it since there is no video for it I'm sure. Cause it is from way back. heh! This is dance music to me. But this kid nails it pretty good.
I've been having problems with the embed feature so....Preview says no go.
Ok, what am I doing wrong when embedding? I've done it before. LOL!
