With todays tech. the computer can do pretty good arpeggio and if you take the time even soloing. But strumming is still something not that good.

So the strum patterns are presets, sort of a downer if you have something exact in-mind but when you find the pattern you need all you have to do is theoretically know the right notes and play (or write with midi pencil tool). Then it gets really easy to work with and got to say the sound is really good (gives options to tweak too, like different mic. are again sampled not emulation or any fx you want). This is the latest which does melody too, there are also previous 2 releases strum specific.

They even made an electric version but I'm not very interested in that, still looks quite good;

For those of you using a Macintosh and Logic Pro X (The only reason to own a mac other than Final Cut) this functionality, along with just about everything else is handily built right in! I comes with a huge library of virtual instruments and a huge iibrary of midi patterns that can be applied to any midi vst. For example, you can take a midi part that was created as a drum roll and apply it to a string section. It can yield some very inspiring results. Here is a quick vid on using the built in Guitar VST and getting it to sound a bit like a real guitar.

What makes logic so spiff is that it's so self contained. It's packed with thousands of dollars worth of vsts and wads of pre built midi to get you going on tracks. It's easy to et spoiled with it. The program is only $300 which is shockingly cheap considering it's probably got $10,000 worth of vst/plugins/midi libraries built in. Some of them are already in 5.1 surround sound. I"m a litle biased of course as i've been using it for years as has our founder Kris Dahl. Don't get me wrong, I still love FREE daws and FREE plugins like REAPER. But it's impossible to beat the sheer amount of stuff for the price in logic. The only downside is you have to run it on a mac or hackintosh which is kinda lame sad.gif I wish they would just make it for PC but if they did, people might just stop buying macs because what would be the point.
