Egad! I didn't mean to make your injury worse soldier!!! The good new is you got it! That's the DOUBLE TAP!!! You put all the tapping bits togethere quite well here as this is some pretty insane tapping. It's well beyond EVH style and well in to crazy shred tapping. These bits work great in solos as long as one of the open strings matches the key the backing is in. Best case, the backing is in the Key of E, at which point you can use the open E and just about any scale that sounds good with the backing!

You just..

I've decided to take a break today and let the thing fix itself. It got really nasty after a whole day of work and I'd decided it's for the best. I kind of regret it but one day of the delay isn't that much.

It's a bit embarrassing but it's all because of my silly little model assembly hobby. I got too careless and a scalpel was in play. That's all it took smile.gif

No worries Soldier!! You shouldn't play when injured or risk making it worse! if it's a deep cut, always good to let it heal up. Scalpel type blades make very thin deep cuts like that are easily opened up again with a bit of pressure so put some antibiotic ointment on it and a tight bandaid (not enough to cut off circulation) and let it heal up and hair over as they say!

This has one of the longest licks ever done in boot camp. Also, DOUBLE PICKING is all through this one. You did very well on that very long lick. It's just huge. So many notes. So many chances to mess it up. Not here though because you NAILED IT! Also, your picking hand is adapting! I see it planted on the bridge and you using the other half of the hand for picking. This is great to see. It's the foundation of shred. IT's instinctual to move the wrist back and forth, but that wastes energy and time. The way you are doing it is much more efficient. Also I see more speed happening and you don't lose precision. You got this one Soldier. You just..

Well fought! This one is all about playing bouncy licks that focus on open strings and fret traverse. These types of licks can result is loads of string noise. You keep string noise low which is great. Good hand synch and mute as well. The bouncey bits can work as a rythm guitar part. They are built just by looking for two notes in a given scale/key to play on adjacent strings and one open string. So by pulling up the scale generator on GMC, you can write these types of licks just by lookiing at a gen scale on the neck. try to use a key that matches one of the open strings. These types of licks work as rythm or lead or just warmup!

Well fought Soldier!! This is some tricky stuff to be sure. It's another one of those where finger power is the real key. The first lick does this back and forth traverse thing on the strings so it's easy to get the strings confused but you have no problems at all. Also, the first one needs full effort from all the fingers used including the pinky. It's built to almost force the hand to use the pinky so that I can see how strong your hands are at this point. The good news is your left hand is quite strong! The second lick requires you to "lead with the pinky" which is something we will keep coming back to. It's a critical thing and your doing a great job of it. Also, you do a good job of the over hand mute technique which is also quite tricky. Well done!!

You've clearly got the skills to play this one Soldier. This is stuff that we have been over quite a few times. I'm repeating here to give you a chance to show some gains from the last time you did this type of mission. I know you can play these types of licks. What I want to see now is you pushing yourself to play the better/faster/stronger than you did the last time you played these types of licks in bootcamp. I don't have a certain speed I want you to hit, I just want to see you pushing a bit harder Soldier. One more in to the breach!!

I will try it next time I get the chance.

I want to share some kind of photo of my stompboxes, as you suggested but the problem is, I have enough power and signal cables just for one pedal. I checked my equipment and the other cables are broken/not reliable, so I consider buying a replacement. I just wonder if I should get a single box power unit and a cable to branch it out to 3-5 boxes or if I should invest in some actual power unit to supply power for each box independently. I don't see myself getting any far in the music industry but it's still fun thing to do to relax or for self-development.
I'm also considering some 5-string bass or some keyboard for my game project. I feel bad about using the original series' music instead of my own but the truth is, I can't play one whole song on a guitar, let alone compose a synthwave track.

You can buy a power unit for your pedal board for around $12 that is just a plug for the wall and then a daisy chain cable. Here is such a unit on amazon.
https://www.amazon.com/Caline-Adapter-Effec...962&sr=8-11

you can get a pedal power supply box for about $20
https://www.amazon.com/Hiree-Outlets-Chargi...962&sr=8-16

similar stuff at most any retailer like Thomann. smile.gif

I say keep going on your synthwave project. It's the best way to learn!

That's the stuff Soldier!!! I can feel the aggression!! This is great stuff. It's good to see you pushing your ability. AT this stage in the process, you've got these chops down. This series of missions is less about learning new bits to play than it is about working to play bits you already know how to play, just a bit better than you played them the first time around. Your technique was solid in the first version and remains solid. You've clearly pushed the envelop a bit to give each bit a bit more aggression/speed. Keep this up Soldier!!!! Whatever you did to get to this spot in this Mission, keep that up!!

Well Fought Soldier! This is yet another tricky one that is based on previous work. I have you do the picking pattern on open strings to prepare you hand for the same pattern once the left hand is involved again. You did a great job getting a handle on that picking pattern and on the fretting pattern. It's using all of the strings so all of your work on string traverse is now paying off. I notice you stood up for the last one and i can tell you are pushing it and still making it happen which is great to see Only at the very edge of our ability to do we make progress. 80 percent of your progress/gains will come in the last 20 percent of all out effort. Once the hands gets used to a lick, they have to be pushed to failure to find the point right before failure which is the new yardstick for the next mission.

Congrats Soldier!

Well fought soldier! The tricky thing about this is that each one is very similar, but each one is different. The purpose of this is to be intentionally confusing. It's trying to see if your fingers get confused and start playing one of the other bits. You did a very good job of keeping each one separate. Also, you did well on doing the econ picking which is the foundation of all of these types of licks. It's possible to play them with alt picking but it's just not as efficient. You've got this soldier!

you just.

Well Fought Soldier!! You may have noticed how these riffs build on what you already did but add the open string in to things to make it a bit more complicated. Using an open string can often take a riff to the next level. Also, these riffs require solid economic picking and your econ picking has improved a great deal! If it hadn't, these licks would be crazy tricky to play. They are tricky enough as is smile.gif The pinky is required here just to make things work and you have worked on your pinky over time to the point where it's strong as a rock. You have good timing and good muting and your using the proper econ picking. In short, you KRUSHED it Soldier!! These licks are all based on the "CRAZY TRAIN" riff pattern. That one riff has spawned more riffage than any other riff since imho. Every single one of these is loosely based on it. These are not really "shred" licks so much as ECON PICKING DRILLS. You did very well on these soldier and you mute solid as well. You've got this sorted. Your ready for the trials that lay ahead!!!

You just..
