Easy. Visualize playing. You can learn entire songs in your head without picking up the guitar. Spending a lot of time visualizing playing is nearly as important as actually playing.

You'll find a lot a teachers will tell you to sort out a problem in your head first. I figured out how to stop my speed picking from ringing while running through the licks in my head in the shower, then put it to practice.

o really..tahts cool..i think my part on that though..is when im goin up and down the fret board semi-fast....i sometimes dont pick my index finger up all the way..or w/e finger im using..and it kinda makes a sliding noise..soemtiems..but not currently working on that.. laugh.gif

you can practice your left hand.
Touch the tip of your fingers together with the tip of your thumb, one after another at high pace and you can do different patterns.
