After playing through some headphones that is really made for mp3 players rather than studio and recording quality ones i decided it was time to look for some better ones that are made for this kind of thing. I was hoping to find some headphones that would be good enough that i could keep for a long time, or maybe if they're good enough to only need those. I was recommended these:

I use Sennheiser EH2200 - closed back design which I find comfortable to wear. Have to say that I don't generally find headphones comfortable over a long period so this was an issue for me.

I use Philips SBC HP890 and they are very comfortable.
The padding closest to the ears are made of cloth which makes them very easy to wear. No hard leather, no sweating just pure comfort. I've had them for years and have mended them when the plastic broke 6 months ago, now they are taped but I simply don't want another pair of headphones. Cool thanks for the replies i'll look into some of those. I just want some that will sound really good when playin with my guitar they aren't for mp3/cd player use

Ok i'm thinking of going for the audio technica now. I've had a look around and they're probably the best buy at the moment i found them for £48 and the specs look pretty good.
Frequency Response: 5 - 28,000 Hz Sensitivity (1 mW): 100dB Impedance: 60 ohms Maximum Input Power: 1,600 mW Driver Diameter: 40mm I read on the line6 forum someone said something about impedance being really important for the podxt is this true? Well these have the highest i've seen so far. I'm hoping to order headphones soonish. I forgot that i had 2 other headphones in my house which i've dug out just now. I remember trying them a while back when i had my line6 spider II. I didn't like either of them. They are: Memorex MH-50: http://www.acegadgets.co.uk/index.asp?func...p;productid=495 These i bought in a shop not too far from me. They were only £10 and thought i'd try them out. I didn't think they sounded very good at all but then again what can you expect from headphones that only cost £10. In most of the reviews people have rated them highly but i guess they like them because they are cheap. They might sound good with other things. Also i got these: Panasonic RPHT225 http://www.ciao.co.uk/Panasonic_RPHT225__5717217 Again they only cost me £10 but i didn't like these either. Again the reviews people have rated them highly, and most worryingly to me some people have said they sounded good. Maybe my ears are screwed up or something but i didn't like the sound of them, sounded quite muffled actually. But also it worries me that the rest are like it, and that i won't find headphones that i'm looking for because they don't get much better. I noticed the specs between these aren't that much different. Response bandwidth - 18 - 22000 Hz Sensitivity - 100 dB/mW Impedance - 24 Ohm Well i guess i'll have to wait and see but so far i've tried 3 and no good but then again they were cheap. Hopefully my next ones will do the trick

 Pavel is right! I use Audio Technica ATH40fs for Mix, Recording, with my Triton Extreme, Pod XT, DIGI 002, Mackie 1402-VLZ PRO and well,... I just love how they sound...never had such cool headphone...and over the years I tried a few because I like doing mixing with headphones better, than using speakers for some reason. I use both in combination somehow... Well the ATH40fs were forwarded to me by a good friend of mine. A real audio maniac...amp designer and ceo of Kulik Design http://www.kulik-design.de/ Sebastian himself. That guy really knows what he is talking about, and I only choose by feel...he could even tell me why they sound so good but I can´t remember Usually I forget about those frequencies analising theory stuff quite soon I used a Sennheiser for years... can´t remember the exact name. It was cool but not as linear as the Audio Technica, since it was for Hifi usage mainly...but it worked ok for me. You know, I only choose what feels right and sounds somehow good,... I don´t care for frequencies and so on...but I did some premixes with ATH40fs in combination with my Behringer Truth B2031A speaker system and my friends in the professional buiss were quite impressed...so I thought to myself I made a good choice on them...ans somehow my system seems to work real good "FOR ME" Like always I have to add: Try out different ones and use the ones who feel best. Also you have to like, get used to the sound of your Headphones...I think it will not help to buy just a more expensive one because someone told they sound better...you have to know your equipment! And ah! really important! if possible leave them on for a long time! the ATH feel really comfortable! when you do a mix, it might take more then the 2 minutes you test them in the store  I hope that helped thnx for the attention Kai |
