Feb 23 2009, 11:39 PM	GMC:er Posts: 19 Joined: 23-February 09	Hi all, I'm new to the site, but hope to become a frequent contributor to both forum threads and collaborations! I've been an on and off again guitarist for 29 years. Started when I was 6, then quit, then played bass in a few metal bands in the early 90's, then quit, then picked up the guitar again and have played very sparingly over the last 10 years mostly just jammin' to blues and to a few of the old metal tunes I still remember as pure stress-relief. I have had a few tries at writing/recording/producing industrial-genre music in my own project studio, but for reasons I'll save for another post, that wasn't a good hobby for me and I've since sold all of my non-guitar related studio equipment. So now I found myself where I have a new love for guitar-oriented music again, I want to keep my endeavors simple by focusing on guitar, and want to optimize my time to keep this something that I can maintain while keeping balance with the other things in my life (wife, kids, friends, job, etc). With that said, as much as I've played guitar in the past, I've never taken it very seriously - I haven't really improved as a guitarist in about 20 years. But it's now or never. I'm planning to create a practice schedule, an overall practice plan, and set some goals for myself to ensure I make significant progress. My ultimate goal is to take some backing tracks (and MAYBE create a few of my own) and be able to write and perform solos that I'm personally proud of (something close to many of the lessons that are rated as a '6' or '7' on GMC). GMC seems like a great community to support my progress - I'm very much looking forward to learning from you and along with you.
