GMC Forum _ Gabriel Leopardi _ Metalcore Request

Posted by: jammer91 Oct 9 2007, 05:50 PM

Wazzup Gabriel and other GmCerZ (is this the hip hop forum? laugh.gif ),

Anyways, the modern metal 2 was an amazing riffing lesson (both the clean and distorted parts). Could you come up with some METALCORE lessons in the style of:
-Bullet for My Valentine
-Avenged Sevenfold (A7x)
-Trivium (the song rain is sorta metalcore)

The best technique is when you consistently open palmmute the 6th string and then play riffs on the 4th and 5th string (I need to work on my speed doing this). Sorta like these vids:

This could be called Modern Metal 3.

Thanks,
Jammer

EDIT: Just went profile snooping and checked out ur band (think its Cirsca). The intro riff frikkin owns...

i Downloaded the DELUXE version of the poison last month.

It has a few extra tracks (like Tears dont fall acoustic version and My fist, your mouth, her scars).

You guys should also check out breaking benjamin (another band).

I have some singles that contains others songs and covers like Pantera's Domination and Metallica'2 Wlcome Home but I don't have that acoustic version! I want it!

I'll check that band and I'll tell you- Where do you live? You know very new bands that are unknown in Argentina.

The acoustic version of Tears Don't Fall is great. I love when rock songs are done on acoustic smile.gif Have you heard the band Days of the New? They are not togeher anymore but they did all there songs on acoustic sounded amazing.

Breaking Benjamin are pretty cool too. The first time I heard them was when my boyfriend was playing Halo 2 and they did a version of "Blow me Away" for the game.

yeah!!! Days of the new's first album is great!! They are like an acoustic and less depresive version of Alice in chains. They use different and interesting tunnings in their acoustic guitars. Very good album!

Great link! I get that version the last week and I really like it. I have been studying some Bullet's songs with one of my guitar pupils and we discovered a interesting extended chords use (9ths, 6ths, 7th) in their songs (mostly in the clean parts but also in the heavy parts). Their guitar work is amazing. smile.gif

Ive recently been playing covers of room BFMV songs with some friends (room 409 and hand of blood). Tomorrow were covering My fist, your mouth, her scars (its a bonus edition track). http://youtube.com/watch?v=pNrP5Jw_WHc

How about doing a lesson in the style of BFMV, it would be totally awesome. Ive been only listening to their songs for the past few days. There are some parts which im finding hard which should be easy. Its when they play open power chords really fast (64th notes i think). Im not sure if they alt pick or just down pick really fast. An example would be intro to room 409 (the single open notes and open power chords on C string played fast). http://youtube.com/watch?v=dnbngSIXx0A

And nice Zakk Wylde lesson, i never really saw his melodic side (i thought he was the Bat eating type like Ozzy).
