Really old stuff i wrote. Very reminescent of Edgar Allan Poe's "Shadow - A Parable". It might actually just be about it anyway here it is.

Shadow On The Wall/ On Nights Like This

Seven men in a room of seven lamps,
And no life crawled in the streets below.
Black draperies fall upon the windows,
Hiding a sight of the crimson moon.
Laughter and tears, and tales of sorrow
"Come men let them all be told!"
And on nights like this we drink to freedom!
And to the memories of the ones beloved
Let there death not be mourned, but there life be acclaimed!
And on nights like this (at 3 a.m.) the demons seem to roam.
And as we drink (on nights like this) those shadows tread our home.
And as sure as you and i sit here today, i'll tell you of what i saw.
A shadow from the draperies came, and glided across the walls!
We sat in terror ( we sat in awe! )
As that shadow, stopped on our wall.
We begged its name, we begged its reason.
And no answer, nothing at all.
And when silence seem to come, it shouted its name
"SHADOW, and i have come for you all!"
And when it continued to speak, we sat in terror....
At the sights and sounds of familiar voices,
At the sights and sounds of familiar names,
That came, from the shadow on the wall...
