Changing Pickups?, help!

I have an Ibanez s620exqm, it comes with 2 "designed by emg" pickups.. but I really don't think they are so good, they're passive and the sound is not as "metal" or powerful as I would like to. I've think'd of putting my guitar the emg 81/85 configuration.. but does anyone has another good pickup idea, experience?? maybe some seymor duncan or something, I don't know much of this and I love to play metal (power, thrash, death etc.) You are at GuitarMasterClass.net Don't miss today's free lick. They are two high-output humbuckers which sound great for metal. I had a set of Invaders in a Gibson Explorer years ago and they sounded absolutely killer. Seymour duncan JB, Super warm fairly high output pick up. Neck ...Seymour duncan 59....nice fat lead tone. Be aware that most pick up companies have different color codes for the leads. Jul 8 2008, 10:03 PM	GMC:er Posts: 1.063 Joined: 2-October 06 From: Hawaii	I really like to stay away from pickups labeled as high gain pickups, it just gets a little to distorted and a little to far away from the natural tone of the guitar for me. Bareknuckles are a solution to this problem, amazing pickups, BUT they are very very expensive. EMGs will make a $300 guitar sound like a $1500 one, I highly reccomend those, even tho it takes away the guitars natural tone. Gibson pickups rock, the burstbucker are amazing, less expensive than Bareknuckles but still quite expensive. Seymour Duncan is a touchy subject for me, I do think they make good pickups, but they all have this funky sounding midrange to me, kinda sounds like a car horn "honk". I wouldn't reccomend them. Dean is now making pickups, and they sound very good, I own a pair. I would reccomend the Baker Act pickup for you, high output, but not distorted, spongy, thick, amazing. Another company I've always had success with is Dimarzio, all thier pickups have a sweet midrange, love em. You are at GuitarMasterClass.net Don't miss today's free lick.
