Hi Gab,

Many thanks for this, really appreciate it.

At the moment I don't have any video, my gear is as follows:

Guitar:
ESP LTD EC-401

https://www.gear4music.es/es/Guitarra-y-baj...co-Sunburst/X6K

GIBSON Explorer Blackout ebony (Can't find the model I believe they don't do it anymore but it cost around 1700)

Line6 Pocket POD

USB Audio Capture Edirol UA-25

Macbookair with Garageband

I do have experience recording there but not audio and video at the same time, any advise?

Many thanks!

Hi mate! Great stuff!

Well, there are many options to record yourself. Many students use their cellphone to record videos here and then use any video editor to replace audio from camera. In order to get your videos soon here, it's ok if you record them with your phone and manage to get a decent sound so I can check your current playing and give you the first assignments.

Then, you can explore the best option for you. Please check out this video:

Some suggestions are only for windows, but you can learn the process and find an alternative for MAC.

to add, Reaper can install a video player for simple syncing of audio and video, many people use it hear and if not, Itis FREE and has many youtube videos to help as I believe the video part of this lesson is dated

That's a killer addition! Thanks Cursin! So you don't need an extra software to sync audio and video, you can do it in Reaper, using the same project. That's smooth!

Great! Feel free to choose any GMC lesson to record, or anything that you already know. Please try to cover rhythm and lead.

Hi Gab,

Thank you, I've just recorded a super quick intro to Welcome to Dying of BG, please bear with me as it is a bit rushed and all that I wanted to show you is approx my level so we can have a planning.

Have in mind that I've always been a rhythm guitar player, I can handle riffs but I really need working on my solos as they are the thing I've practiced the least.

Hope this lets you have an idea of how (bad) I play the guitar and where should I start!

Excellent mate!! You did a great job finding out how to make your guitar video!!

Ok, you have a good rhythm base there! You are playing very fast power metal stuff. We'll work on your rhythm but first we need to polish your lead technique. Let's start with this 2 lessons that may seem easy but they are essential to start focusing on different aspects of your technique like hands position, movements, relaxation, posture, picking, vibrato, cleanness and off course timing.

Please check these ones and let me know if you have any question or need any more help.

Hi Gab,

Great, I'll get started!

How should the timing be? Work this for as long as I need? Mark an objective (2 days would be reasonable)?

Once I have them ready, should I make a video of both and send it here for you to check?

Many thanks

I think that you can share videos playing the lessons in around 2/3 days to get some early feedback and then we can see how to continue.

Hi Gab,

Many thanks! I definitely like the video version, its super productive. Thanks for the advice I think you nailed it, those are the parts which I suffer the most.

Alternative picking has always been tough for me. Regarding the vibrato, it's true, there is not much there, I had a bit of trouble with it.

Also on the B and E string (los agudos) I had lots of trouble getting the tune with the vibrato, so finally I couldn't hardly do it without going out of tune...

Sorry if I use some spanish words (I've seen you are from Argentina, I'm from Spain biggrin.gif) pero el vibrato en los agudos me desafina muchisimo, I think I should also change strings maybe? Did you find the guitar out of tune?

I'll go ahead with the advices you've given me and also start the alternative picking lesson.

Muchas gracias!

Hi Gab,

Nice to be back! I wished I could go a bit faster at least but it's difficult with two small kids.

Anyway hope that I can make progress eventhough I'm not practicing as much as I thought (min 1 hour a day) I'm reaching more of 30-45 min a day.

Here you have the hand picking lesson, please let me know your thoughts. Many thanks!
