Hi Renan! Welcome to your Gab's Army thread!!

Could you please tell me a bit about you, your musical tastes, influences, strengths and weaknesses? I would need some videos of you playing rhythm and solo guitar, so please post your best material here. If you have some music or ideas of your own, also post them here. Also let me know how you think that I can help you and what are your expectations for our job. You can check the other Army's thread to discover the different modalities of this project.

The principles of our Army are:

+ Improve your technique
+ Make music and solos
+ Have fun
+ Destroy the enemy (hahaha not really just kidding... )

Hi ,

I'm 16 , and I've been playing guitar and drums for 4-5 years.

My favorite bands and musicians ;

Most of the musicians who plays at Crossroads Festival (Eric Clapton , Joe Bonamassa, Jeff Beck etc.) , Led Zeppelin , Sabbath , Judas Priest , Joe Satriani , Saxon , Raven , Pink Floyd, Van Halen ...

I want to improve my tapping and sweep picking techniques and learn using the guitar slide. Here are some of my recs playing rhytm and solos :

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FleXAgP5SVo...D1rtOuCsBkMqiCA

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AYxgL2jbCQg...D1rtOuCsBkMqiCA

a blues improvisation : https://soundcloud.com/rteuman-1/blues-do-a-lameysi

I can't decide what am I going to focus on , after practising some tapping i found myself practising a jazz solo. biggrin.gif

So what's it gonna be?

Hi Renan! Thanks for the links and the info. I think that the main goal of this work together will be to make you focus on assignments weekly. I will suggest you lessons or exercises and I will wait for videos or audio files of you playing it after 7 days of practice. The idea is that you build a routine that includes things that you are already working on but that incorporate the new lessons/exercises.

We will work on Sweep Picking, Tapping but I also think that working on bending, vibrato and AP is a good idea to take your playing to a new level.

First a question: what tapping and sweep Picking lessons have you worked?

I'm really a beginner at sweep picking, I haven't worked at GMC's tapping and sweeping lessons yet. I can only remember one of Kristopher's, about sweep picking. For tapping , I learned the basics from my old guitar teacher and from Youtube. Also I learned the main idea and the right hand technique of sweep picking from a book. Can you suggest me some lessons from here?

Hi Renan! Good job on this first week! Here we go with the comments:

Tapping: You are getting a good sound of this technique. Sometimes I can notice some little unwanted noises that should be mute with the palm of your right hand, excepting the ones the 2nd string noises that should be muted with the tips of the fingers of your left hand. You also must adjust the timing of it, it must be 16th notes played very tight, like a machine, that's what makes tapping amazing. Be sure to make the pull-of string to make each note sound at the same volume.

Sweep Picking: This technique requires patients and lots of repetitions. Try to start working slower than the tempo of the video, concentrating on tempo, the sound of each note and avoiding the extra noises. Experiment with the palm of your right hand and your left hand fingers to geet a clean sound. It's very important to make lots of looped repetitions at a tempo that you can keep both hands 100% synchronized and then increase the tempo slowly, as I showed you in the Vchat.
