GMC Forum _ Bands and Guitarists _ Greatest Rock Guitar Solos

Posted by: Gitarrero Nov 24 2009, 09:46 AM

Hi everbody,

a couple of years ago I found this website with the 100 greatest rock guitar solos and also the greatest riffs.
I'm pretty sure this could lead to an endless discussion which solo is the best and all that, but to me it was a source of inspiration, since I listened to bands I didn't know before.
So here is the website:
http://digitaldreamdoor.nutsie.com/pages/best_guitarsolo.html

And here the best solo of all time (according to this website, but I really like it too):

that's a deep solo, it stays in your mind, of course the context where it appears affects our perception

The Comfortably Numb solo is the the one guitar part that keeps making me pick up the guitar. Over the years, whenever I abandoned guitar, that solo would make me dust things off and try again. The Pulse DVD version is pretty bada$$.

I bought the CD "100 Greatest Rock Guitar Solos" and is the best CD i've ever bought. Simply awesome. I agree with that site about the best guitar solo, it's the most expressive one.

Comfortably Numb is a perfect example of what a solo should be. Not technically insane but the emotion and note choice is perfection. Easily up there with the best songs and solos of all time. When you listen to the studio album when the first note of the last solo comes in you know it's going to be great smile.gif
