no matter how much i try i cant get those bend vibratos right(when you bend and then you vibrato the string alreay bent). like in the three lvl neocalssical.
any tips on how to nail them?
part of it i know is that fact that my fingers are not strong enugh but is it just me or does the tone flactuate more with less vibrato when bent?

You can try with some thinner strings, possibly 9's on the treble for more easy bending. Also bending just takes time, so try to focus more on bending practice, and vibrato will come in parallel, since it is basically the same as the bend motion, only repeated. Hope this helps man.

Man, I have a theory about these strings.... I recently moved from 10s to 11s, and believe me they are easier to bend for me than 10s... How can this be? I got a theory... When using 9s you got 11 for B string and 13 for G string. When you use 11s, you got 11 for the E string, 13 for the B string, so nearly the same effort as 9th, only problem is the 15 on G but this is generally easier to bend because of the position... So I am fine now biggrin.gif

Edit: I just noticed this is Marcus' board, I am really sorry for this Marcus, I didnt wanted to be rude, just I didnt check the title ...

When you say chunky sound, do you mean about the bass strings? You can always get a hybrid set man.

I remember struggling a lot trying with this when I started playing.
It's the kind of thing that I feel is hard to explain, but once you get it you don't forget!

The problem might come from the way you hold the neck.
Grabbing the neck with your thumb over the lower strings helps I think get a better grip and better stability while bending and adding the vibrato...
