A while back I promised to make a soundclip with my http://seelectronics.com/GM10.html Acoustic Guitar Mic.
I forgot about it and never did, sorry sad.gif

But now I managed to get around to it, so hopefully you like what you hear smile.gif

The http://seelectronics.com/GM10.html Mic is an awesome acoustic guitar "clip-on" micrphone, that makes you able to record acoustic guitar with great soundquality no matter how much you move around!!! That's great news for anyone who's been trying to mic up an acoustic with a regular microphone, cause when yopu move around while playing then, the sound changes..

Not anymore folks, not anymore biggrin.gif

This is what it looks like:

Soundclip:  SE_Electronics_GM_10_demo.mp3 ( 1.83MB ) : 639

No mixing/mastering/effects has been applied, just my guitar through that mic.
3 mono tracks, one panned 45% Left, one panned 45% Right and the melody/solo in the middle.

This is how it looks on the guitar:

Some information from the SE Electronic website:

The GM10 guitar mic is a unique new addition to the sE range, designed to solve an age old problem in micing acoustic guitars for studio recordings. There is always a trade off when recording, between the need to stay still in front of the mic to avoid changes in the sound of the instrument as it’s recorded, and the need for the performer to get an ‘emotional’ take. The two requirements don’t sit well together and this often leads to recorded takes sounding too clinical… too ‘perfect’ and lacking the performance element that often makes a song.

The GM10 incorporates the world’s smallest gold sputtered mylar capsule at 17.1mm, along with a proprietary shock mount assembly built into the capsule head. A universal clamping system enables the user to fix the mic in place (on any flat backed acoustic guitar) so the condenser capsule is perfectly placed top record take after take from exactly the same position.

The clamping mechanism and shock mount ensure that there is zero mechanical noise transferred through the guitar body. This allows the user to capture a perfect recording every time, while still being able to move around freely, which encourages the performer to give their best on a take.

The Guitar Mic really does transform recorded performances of acoustic guitar, and the way you work in the studio.

All in all, a great guitar mic which in my opinion works flawlessly (at least for my needs!) smile.gif

If you got any questions about it, or comments about the soundclip, just ask and/or comment smile.gif

It's a bit expensive, at least here in Norway..
499$ on Ebay for a new one smile.gif

It's not the cheapest mic, but it's worth the money in my opinion smile.gif

Well, my guitar doesn't have a pickup, so I need a good mic for recording.
And with this I don't have to worry about placement and sitting still etc., so for me it's a great investment smile.gif
But if you don't need it 500$ is a lot of money!

wow thats really inventive for micing, cant see it having much live stage use though!!! laugh.gif All your recordings sound great mate so this should just enhance them even further!

Hehe, I don't believe it's very stage-friendly biggrin.gif
But it's VERY studio-friendly wink.gif

Thanks! Yeah, at least my recordings with acoustic guitar will be a lot better smile.gif
Now I need to re-record a whole bunch of stuff though dry.gif

Sounded fantasic! And the best part, when it's mounted it looks like one of these robot guitars we heard so much about but of course no such thing exist laugh.gif

(before anyone get started, it's an old internal GMC joke) wink.gif

But really... they don't exist.
