Haha Very good mate! Jonas Tamas also showed us how he imitates a bird and I know there was a famous elephant imitation done by Van Halen - anybody know how to do that one?

How many things can you imitate using your beloved 6, 7 or 8 or even 9 string? If there are any 9 string users here at GMC Pick up your guitar and show us all what you can imitate with it - anything is allowed: Whammy, adding FX and stuff like that I will start with ...... A COW! Who's next? Cosmin Awesome cow! Haha Very good mate! Jonas Tamas also showed us how he imitates a bird and I know there was a famous elephant imitation done by Van Halen - anybody know how to do that one? Here is my "ALARM-CLOCK" guitar sound:) http://soundcloud.com/jonas-tamas-guitar/alarm-clock I'm glad to reveal how I produced this on the guitar, but first the readers can guess and try it:) I'm looking forward to the next ideas, it will be a great topic! Maybe we can construct a whole "story", for example someone is woken up early in the morning with the alarm-clock, then he feeds the cow, then he jumps on his motorbike and goes into town to buy something... etc. The forest bird sound, mentioned by Cosmin, can be found here: https://www.guitarmasterclass.net/guitar_fo...showtopic=47807 |

Love the cow and alarm clock! you guys should collaborate on a 'farm' song.
I don't really have anything that imitates something else but I mess with 'weird' sounds a lot. Here's a track where all the stuff that sounds like synth parts and noise is actually guitar. Everything other than vox, bass and percussion was done with a guitar (including the obvious 'guitar' parts). I used an ebow/volume pedal/EH micro-synth/wah/reverse fx w/DL4 and probably a slide too. All 'static' and 'noise' is also me. http://www.soundclick.com/bands/page_songI...;songID=8439592 http://soundclick.com/share.cfm?id=8439592 *(It's a soundclick.com page which sometimes doesn't work depending on the browser) The artist (Alex Kharlamov) is the same guy that wrote 200 Cats below in my soundcloud sig - the second one down. Nothing too weird on that other than me playing fretless electric at 2:50. This post has been edited by klasaine: Feb 10 2013, 06:42 PM -------------------- - Ken Lasaine

Great idea Jonas! Let's revise - we have the Alarm Clock, the Motorbike and the Cow What would we need next?
BTW Jonas, that alarm clock sounds very close to the sort of stuff that Mattias would do Awesomeness - does it have anything to do with controlling the sound made by to overlapping notes? It could be a tonic and its flat second played on a different string in the same time? Just guessing here Love the cow and alarm clock! you guys should collaborate on a 'farm' song. The keyboard player here - Alex Argento is known for his guitar like tones on the synth and manner of phrasing! Check him out here with the great Marco Sfogli |

I did not know that my name meant sword in Japanese ... but I like that! (It also means yes in Hebrew and breadth of understanding in english).
Speaking of keys players that can sound like guitarists - check out this Jan Hammer w/Jeff Beck cut. Keys solo is at 2:10 This post has been edited by klasaine: Feb 11 2013, 11:24 AM -------------------- - Ken Lasaine

You have a donkey and a dog?? Man, I can't wait to hear those Here they come! http://soundcloud.com/jonas-tamas-guitar/the-donkey-and-dog-guitar The donkey sound is produced by a really crazy trick. The dog is easier:) I'm looking forward to the other member's Special Fx ideas! It boosts the creativity a lot to try to think outside of the box, and playing a donkey instead of an A-minor pentatonic lick |

I can do a whale song but I can't find any recorded examples of it. That's easy though: high notes, volume pedal, delay and reverb.

Would be spiff - as Todd would say - if you'd share and example So,guys, anybody else know how to turn their guitar into anything else? |

Jonas, how did you do these if I might ask? Donkey: pushing the low E string upwards (in a similar manner as in the case of the Forest Bird trick) at the 15th fret, until the string leaves the neck and goes to the side. Then, a "regular" G note on the same fret. Dog: just a normal note with a slide from downwards, usually the G string 11th fret gives the average "dog barking pitch" |

I've found another cool guitar trick I've invented a long ago: it's a UFO take off sound!
