Here is where the magic happens: the REC board turns bedroom guitarists into real pros. Remember - it doesn't matter if you fail or pass, as long as you keep posting REC takes you will progress.

The entries will be graded by a number of instructors. After grading, members will be accredited with the appropriate points if they pass, and adjustments will be made to their REC level.
Passing grade is 6 or higher.

As first thing I very happy You enjoty the lesson and decided to share with us with Your first approach smile.gif

To make things clear our purpose is to spotlight the things that need some work but You have to know You did a really nice take and I;'m glad You learned it note by note smile.gif

Now things that You should consider to improve

1. Tone

Too much gain and too much middle frequencies makes Your sound a bit to muddy. If You'll always try to give 150% gain from You hand and less from the amp, then You'll reach the perfect balance and all fast notes will be clear - especially the muted ones

2. Noisess

Left hand is our sort of noise supressor. It keep in contact with the strings that are not in use at the same moment it touches the one, particular note that's needed. This is more than important because very often muting unwanted strings is 3/4 of the job and putting the finger on the needed note is 1/4 of the challange.
Less gain and more control of noise will give You more clarity.

3. Right hand movements

Piking direction is very important. One of the main lesson purposes was to work on fast ONLY downstrokes - at least 2/3 of the lesson. If there are eny moments of hesitation about "how to pick that note" then it creates some timming and precission issues. I suggest You to try only DOWN movements like most of metal players do every time they can handle it \m/ smile.gif This lesson should help to find the balance between tnesion and relax while doing those fast, muted runs.

When we go through some more dificult stuff it's very important to analyze each moevement very closely - movement of the lesson maker showing the licks. Those movements are not random and changing picking method or direction can cause the lesson to be more dificult than it is. I think You should try it smile.gif

Anyway...Very nice aproach and a huge respect for doing each note exactly like in the lesson. Now it's time to do similar with the movements smile.gif If you like we can make a special thread to work on this lesson step by step smile.gif

Its veeeery close to pass but You need to lower the gain and add some treble so we could judge the timming...now it's a bit too muddy. So I'll be very glad to See Your next take! smile.gif

Great feeling in this take! As Darius pointed out the important details - it was his lesson, so it was normal that he knew best what to advise - my only suggestion is to apply the changes at a slow tempo so that you observe the mechanics behind every move and then, when everything is in place, gradually raise the speed, while keeping the technique consistent.

Keep rocking mate!

Hi man! Congrats on this new REC take! There are some parts that sound very tight and some others that need some more practice to be adjusted like at 00:20, and some other parts where the timing is not 100% tight. It's not an easy lesson, and the style requires a too much precision but I think that with some more practice you will master this one. Darius gave really important tips to fix, so have in mind that, practice using metronome the different parts and you will get it.

Keep on the good job! wink.gif
