Wow. Just... wow.
Do you think he uses an email template for people he rejects and just changes the name here and there (and added a bit about the Iron Curtain) or do you think he devoted the time to that truly unique email ??
Now that you mention it, I think it was a template

I can totally understand a metal lover having hatred and frustration towards pop music as it can often feel like the commercial music that's out there is making it harder for the metal guys.. however, on calm reflection (a lot of these guys need to chill) the blame can never be laid at the feet of other artists and creators.. they're just using the universal flow of creation and making it work, even if we don't like the sound of it.
It's up to everyone to do the same for themselves.
Yes, yes, I have hatred and frustration towards pop
But, it's more than that. You see, most of the pop musicians these days RARELY write their own music, we know that, right ? They just hit the studios and record as they are told by the producers and composers. What's the point if you don't have creativity and talent ?
The metal guys, obviously need more attention and more praise for their work. They write and arrange 98% of the music themselves unlike pop guys and gals. I make my brother listen to Megadeth's Mechanix and he says it sucks, without even bothering to think about the talent involved for just one second. He never think and says "Wow, how could these folks play and record so FAST ?" or "How is that guy playing guitar so fast and singing at the same time ?", instead, he says, too fast
It sucks.
My point is, there should be talent and creativity involved. I don't hate all pop artists, I like Michael Jackson, had a whopping Vocal Range and was really talented.

Honestly, people should be allowed to play whatever instrument they like regardless of genre. Not only that but I think if more people use Jacksons, Deans, Ibanez then it can only be a good thing as those companies stay in business.
Its OK. But I am not gonna stand some untalented guy who doesn't write his own stuff play a Jackson, or Dean or Ibanez
I hope you know who am I pointing to
(HINT:He's my age
)
QUOTE (Alex Feather @ Aug 18 2012, 12:50 AM)
It's ok for him to like metal but the guy took it way too far!
I can play any guitar I want and I have offered him a great promotion
But if he wants to be a punk about it it's his problem all he had to say is sorry not interested instead of writin a frwaking poem about hating pop music every music deserving to live and there is nothing wrong with not liking pop or metal I just think some stuff is better to keep to yourself
I think he wrote it whic is funny! I'm glad he cares and respect his opinion
but he just took it too far!
Best email ever though I will print it and frame it and it will go right on my wall!!!
I asked him to sign it
will wait and see if he will!!!
OH yes, he took it WAY too far. Not even selling, that's very unprofessional. And yeah, that'd be funny, that e-mail on the wall
And as I said, talent and creativity. I think Alex writes music for the pop people, I don't think he gets what he deserves given his skills
Yet, all the glory is STOLEN by the singer
Which pi**es me off

I read all through his site when I first found it and he is a serious, hard core, Metal head and it goes beyond music preference and into philosophy for him. I can appreciate strong convictions but I am a bit shocked that he didn't even want to sell you a guitar?
It's his shop, so it's up to him who he sells to but by the same token, it's up to every musician what they want to play. I can respect his disdain for commercialism, very Metal, but I wish he was a bit more open about folks rights to play anything they like.
Yup, a bit more open. He is like one of our extremely conservative and old-school GMCer's
QUOTE (thefireball @ Aug 18 2012, 05:03 AM)
I personally didn't like his attitude toward Alex. The guy should be proud to at least sell Alex a guitar. Who knows? Alex might be able to reinvent pop music with a metal guitar! Think of the different tonality of the wood. Oh well...the guitars are still beautiful.
Yeah, only, and ONLY Alex can do it, because he hangs out a lot with us Metalheads
So, he can re-invent and change pop music with the right touch of metal

Sadly some of my fellow Metal Heads sometimes (not all the time) can be a bit closed and rigid.
Have you ever talked to Slavenko Erazer ?
QUOTE (El Fortinero @ Aug 18 2012, 06:22 AM)
This reminds me something that happended here last year.. there was a "pop" band of boys that always dressed with La coste´s Tshirts (you know, the one of the cocodrille). the thing is that the "music" this kids did were listened only by the poorest part of the society. So the kids that followed this band started to wear lacoste tshirts and the people that always used lacoste clothes (richer part of the society) stopped buying it because they didn´t want to be confused with this new users. Lacoste sales went down abruptely as you may imagine!
In a desperate way to recover the "prestige" of the brand, La coste offered 1 millon dollars to each member if they stopped using lacoste clothes, but the kids refused the offer arguing that they dresses as they wanted.
Fourtunately for Lacoste, this band is loosing popularity, but it was a funny moment indeed
Wow, nice one
