Sight Reading! What is it? unsure.gif
For a guitarist tab reading is essential. When some one can read standard notation and not just read,to play while he does reads,is called sight reading. This is an exellent skill one would have.It can help to grasp deep musical knowledge easily. But remember sight reading is not a MUST for a guitrist.

I start this course for you to help you to improve your sight reading skill.
Spend about 5 minutes per day for following Drills.
Plz for basic theory check out

So no more talking Let's Start our first Drill. laugh.gif
Here is the First Drill

Learn Your Open Strings (E,A,D notes)

1.Download following GP5 files.

2.Open the first file.set 125% zoom level.Give a good look at notes and try to remember the them until you can visualize them with your Eyes closed.

Open the second file set 150% zoom level. If the guitar tablature can be viewed Go to the Track properties and untick the Tablature.Select the metronome and countdown on.

3.Leave the four countdown clicks and sing the notes Loudly (Eg: E,E,E,E,A,A,A,A.......)

4.Play the whole drill on you guitar.(Muting the Track 1 will give you imediate results!)

Firstly Play the Drill at very slow tempo.Remember this is not a speed building exercise.but you can gradually increase your speed.

Yeah this was indeed very simple tongue.gif hope this series catches on, this is something that will help you with any instrument you'll attempt to learn.

Hope you practise your open strings well. Now you should be able to name any open string without any hesitation and you should be able to sight read them as well.

Next Drill will be on First few notes of the E string. When we cover the all six strings you will be able play any note as a flash when you see the note and name any note within 3 frets area.

Sight reading Course not only gives you the ability to Sight Read but also to identify your fret board well which is very useful in improvisation. biggrin.gif

You can find more drills there.
Here after In a new drill I will add Images as well as Guitar pro files for both gp users and non gp users.
