Long time no see guys. Lately my playing has been improving so I'm thinking its time to get rid of the cheap gear and start new with some professional equipment. I have been looking for a new metal guitar, specifically for the metalcore genre. I looked at the typical Jackson guitars, but something was making me look at PRS and ESP guitars. Any suggestions?
Most good guitars can be used for metal.
If you got a great amp with a great overdrive/distortion channel, or a great distortion pedal, almost any guitar will do
So my suggestion is to buy a guitar you like a lot and feel comfortable with
And of course have good amp/effects combo
Or a good modelling option! (Line6, Boss, Axe-FX etc.)
That way you'l be trashing in no time
there are a couple of mroe things to think about, for example weather or not you need a whammy because a neckthrough static bridge would help your sustain a lot. types of woods and pickups for the sound your going for, if its shreddy or very heavy
I think that Schecter makes great metal guitars.
Jackson are great for Metal
One + for schecter guitars. I will buy one by myself
As audiopaal says, I would prioritate to put my money in a good amp. If you have some size at your budget, you may consider Engl, higher end Marshalls, Blackstar or similar. Line 6 also have good amps for metal, though I don`t know them as much.
for guitar, I would stay away from PRS if it`s exclusively a metal guitar you want. PRS are very versatile guitars, but you`ll find a similar good metal guitar for a mucher lower price.
ESP, Scechter, Jackson, Ibanez, Dean (not mentioned a lot on gmc..?) are all good metal guitars which will give some good bang for your buck(not all of the models of course, but you`ll easily see which on suits the style ).
For further help, you must be a bit more specific for which tones you seek. If it`s a sharp tone like Dime, or a destructive gain-tone like Meshuggah.
I was thinking of buying a Washburn WM17

I know it's still a cheap guitar and maybe not as pro as Trey wants.
I might be able to get it for around 180 euro.
Now I only have this very very cheap squier 3xsingle coil pickups, and the Washburn would definately be an upgrade.
What do you say, that's a good price right? (I can't afford anything much more expensive)
If you have a large guitar center "nearby" with all those brands, I would definitely take a road trip and they them all out
How about teling us how much you are able to spend on your new metal guitar?!?
You should consider Ibanez, too. Go to your local shop and check some out
The Jackson Matt Tuck Signature Rhoads is an amazing guitar! It plays, feels and sounds like a 2k+ guitar!!!
I was close to buying one but then I went for a used USA Jackson...
I recommend Jackson as well. Trond has a great guitar that sounds awesome for riffage, and I heard it has great playability, perhaps you can throw him a PM.
Go to a guitar shop, and start trying guitars out untill you find one that you feel comfortable with.
Also ask the man in the shop for some help (:
That's what I did, and it was the best thing to do, I found a guitar that I'm in love with haha
I recomend a Fernandes guitar and a Engl AMP.
Fernandes Dragonfly is a great guitar. i think they (atleast mine) came with a sustainer. Awsome for metal!
