GMC Forum _ GMC Virtual Bands _ **Want To Be A Band Member**

Posted by: Smells Dec 14 2007, 10:56 PM

register your interest in being a "Band Member" only here -Thanks smile.gif

Can you state also (sorry just thought of it) what level you regard yourself, if you also play bass and what style you like - Thanks

Please bear in mind some guidlines also before wishing to join, as due to a recent event I`m tightening up so that we do not end up with too many "sleeping members" of groups.

Anyone joining any band has to be invloved in the bands thread on a regular basis, once initial recordings are made you need to be uploading your takes also as requested, I`ve suggested (like collaborations) that deadlines be set by the band leaders if they wish, as another by product of the collapse non active members are going to be contacted by me and given a chance to fulfill there parts by a certain time, its not fair on other active members of the group to wait endlessly for peoples takes.

Hmm, yeah I wanna be a band member... I think... I'm not really sure I'm good enough though sad.gif I'm not great at recordings... :\

sshh .. I have been through hours of intense questioning within Mod circles to be able to display the mark of the teletubbies wink.gif

Posted by: Owen Dec 15 2007, 12:01 AM

I could do bass I suppose, give me a good incentive to get to grips with it properly so I can crash a music course next year. smile.gif

If I dont cut the slack you can always replace me with a VST of course, it just sounds like a bit of fun! tongue.gif

I'm a big fan of rock in general - particularily fond of groovy stoner stuff and also like metal although I'm not as good at writing complex metal riffs.

I'd be willing to join any kind of beginner-intermediate band, I consider myself in between the two, as said in the other thread, I'm at about a lesson raiting of 4-5 depending on the lesson. Preference on blues or rock type stuff but really I like anything so, any bands wanting to get together lets talk eh smile.gif

Posted by: g-forcelover Dec 15 2007, 01:01 AM

is there a band here that plays velvet revolver, and some songs by guns n roses? (november rain is good, Im learing the entire 3-part solo! and first and second guitar parts in about 3-4 weeks i'll be done!)

Posted by: JVM Dec 15 2007, 01:02 AM

What are our restrictions on copyrighted material? I assume we still can't upload anything that's copyrighted, as per the upload forums. Right?

Just keep your eyes peeled in the forums guys smile.gif , at the moment 2 begginer bands and one intermediate, "go for broke" is now full but anyone wanting to join either of the others just enter the threads and the "band Leader" should deal with your questions. smile.gif

there is some limitation in total minutes with GMC`s current license, this shouldnt be a problem at this early stage but if we do too many we will have to start hosting them at myspace etc

Me - bass
and a Vst for the drums

I dunno if thats all the slots full - you'd better ask Smells (but I'm assuming it is) smile.gif

excellent, well done m8, you got the idea wink.gif the first post is kind of an advert for the band requesting members and you plop yourself in there to get in that band, if you use this thread to register your interest for a full up band then I can add people to the rotas biggrin.gif

Posted by: superize Dec 15 2007, 01:30 AM

i would really like to be a member of a beginner band but i have no clue about recording or making up songs so if i can get lots of help i can try.....

i play both guitar and keyboard

Posted by: Zephyr Dec 15 2007, 01:32 AM

This sounds interesting, at the moment the only recording software I have working is Audacity, and it has issues... Pro Tools still isn't up and running yet!!! Any recommendations for recording? Not just for this, just advice in general would be nice, free software only, please, already have Pro Tools, I just need a temporary solution until I get it running!

Anyways, if I do wind up being able to do this, it sounds like a lot of fun! I think I'm somewhere around an intermediate level, I play mostly lead stuff, I think I'm pretty terrible at rhythm stuff, but I'm working on it! I love to play Vai/Satch kind of stuff, but I have a very wide range in music! I like just about anything except rap, heavy metal/hardcore/screamo/all that kind of stuff, and the modern pop/pop rock kind of bands.

Excellent m8, check the VB`s boards for available bands and slots, speak with the "Band Leaders" if you wish to join, if they are full you can be added onto a rota for the next song wink.gif thanks biggrin.gif

Posted by: Crazyfret Dec 15 2007, 07:31 PM

Yeah count me in for the virtual band.

As for my ability I think it lies in the early intermediate stage. As for styles I like rock, blues, funk, heavy rock. I like jazz but my theory and technique needs improving and for heavy metal and thrash my technique definitley needs some work, (I suppose you could say I'm a jack-of -all trades but a master of none unsure.gif ).

I currently use Riffworks for recording and looking forward to the arrival of my Podxt as my indulgance for Xmas cool.gif

Hey USAMAN biggrin.gif

five bands running for the moment, what level are you looking for beginner, Intermediate or advanced? also Style you are looking for

basically we have 5 rock bands going (sorry to generalise peeps) 3 beginner bands, one intermediate and one intermediate to advanced., 2 beginner bands are now full the intermediate is full so places in advanced and beginer

If theres a different style you`d like ie blues, jazz etc then a possibility to start one of your own if you wish?

Cheers
Chris

Great m8, we have 3 beginner bands at the moment, two are full (Small Dragons & Cover Bangas) and one is still awaiting more members (Moaning Lisa), have a read up on the bands threads and see which you`d prefer, although they may not be doing any Power Metal/Death Metal atm as with any band you usually have to do songs that arnt exactly what you`d ideally be playing but I think it`ll be a good experience none the less to join up wink.gif if you wish to join Moaning Lisa then please contact JVM for info, if you prefer the other two then I will place you on a band rota for the next song, let me now and thanks biggrin.gif have a read of their threads

i'd like to join a VB.
I can play keyboard (a little bit)
i'd say im a begginer/intermediate guitarist (more begginer latly)
i have cubase sx3, a POD X3, EZdrummer.
ive also been told i can sing like chad kroger (not sure if thats how u spell it) so i guess i could do some vocals too.

if needed i could probably start a band but i noticed that the max is 5 at the moment.

Hi there,

Wow I missed a lot of things during the weekend. So im in for a band. I play guitar in a a beginer intermediate level, I can also sing backing or lead vocals, I really suck at singing but I love it. So where can I go?

Thanks for all this effort smells.

Ahhh my style, thats a good question....rock, hard rock , some heavy stuff, funk, blues, jazz.....

Posted by: Arrival Dec 17 2007, 06:06 PM

I'd totally be down for playing a beginner guitarist spot.

And as for style, I'll play whatever.

Posted by: Zephyr Dec 17 2007, 09:44 PM

Just a suggestion, as I can't do anything like this at the moment, but an instrumental rock band would be awesome, if anyone's up for it! You know, Steve Vai, Andy Timmons, Joe Satriani, Eric Johnson, that kind of stuff.

Posted by: Smells Dec 17 2007, 10:26 PM

Right, I have 6 (poss with 7 Zephyr?) members

Coffeeman, Arrival, Crazyfret, USAMAN, Soul Decision, Fretdancer69

If you can read the briefs on the already started 5 bands and PM stating which band you`d like to join up for in the future (as I set a temporary limit of 5 bands max to begin with) or ... if one of you thinks you can take on the responsibility of forming a band with the other guys listed above read http://www.guitarmasterclass.net/guitar_forum/index.php?showtopic=9492 first and PM me, maybe we can get a sixth band going smile.gif

Posted by: leedbreak Dec 19 2007, 07:18 PM

Wow, snooze you loose. Did not even see this board till today. Anyway I am up for intermediate level guitar. I can also produce some simple drum and keyboard tracks if needed. Just IM me, thanks.

I do not do the death metal stuff or the screaming singing. Just not me, I am too old for that.

But all older rock, rock and most metal, love the ballad stuff too. Will try backing vocals but no lead singing for me yet.

Posted by: kaznie_NL Dec 22 2007, 08:43 PM

HELL Yeah I like to join. One problem, I live in Holland so you we probably can't train in my garage...xD I'm also having recording troubles and I'm a beginner (I can play frusciante style 1 and two).
I'd love to learn from you guys!
I have somehting in common with coffeeman I see. I love to sing, but it's not always so good... I'd also like to be singer, but I warned you guys k?

ps. Smell, do you get my pm's? you don't seem to answer them but you do answer my forum post huh.gif

Posted by: Jakub Luptovec Dec 29 2007, 05:40 PM

I really would like to participate too.. I would love to make something with heavy, crushing rythm.. Strongly riff based stuff smile.gif Pantera style (Walk..), Fear factory (Scumgrief) style or smt. like that:)

I am somewhere between beginner and intermediate, hopefully closer to intermediate:) I would be able to record my things in place, where we practice with our band - we have recording mix there etc.

Along with guitar, I would be able to provide some (back or lead..) vocals (just not high ranges pls, for I am a bass tongue.gif ) I am a little bit sick of singing in two bands though and would rather devote 100% to guitar:)

So, I would prefere some metal-heading band, but anything would work just fine IMO:) The more styles you know, the better human you are:)
In case of metal band, I can provide with guitar riffs, lyrics and singing melodies..

Happy new year:)
Jakub "Phoenix" Luptovec

Posted by: Sam Hook Feb 24 2008, 12:09 AM

Hey, can you let me know when there there are some spaces available at the moment?

I'm open to what genres I do, pretty much everything except death/black metal.

I could do rhythm guitar or some solos, don't really mind.

Thanks! biggrin.gif

I've been working on two songs. My skills aren't the greatest, but I am impressed with what little I've recorded. I would like some help taking these songs to the next level. I believe they both have great potential.

Id like to be in a band. Id say im about intermediate, can play the keyboard sort of well, know quite a lot of theory and can compose. Also im getting a podxt in couple of days. im best at playing metal so id like to be in a rock or metal band.

Gunna need to be able to record your parts, sorry sad.gif

Posted by: Enucleation Mar 25 2008, 03:02 AM

I think I could do a band.

I'd say beginner or intermediate, since I don't think I'm a complete noob to recording but, I'm no Peter Tagtgren either.

I can't do bass since I don't own one, sadly, but I can play guitar (obviously XD) and I can get a pretty decent death metal growl. I'd say it would be best for me to join a metal band, but I could give others a try. Just don't expect me to be Alans Holdsworth or something in Jazz.

Ok so I thought about it.. and I realised that I won't be able to reopen my VB for atleast the next 7 months as I simply don't have the time to deal with mixing and organization.

So I thought that atleast for now I'll join another VB, I'm willing to play any style, so let me know if there's an opening..

Thats to bad Iluha but i guess i can join another band that play Metal

Eya, I've been so arghhh busy at work, haven't been able to sit in the studio for some time now but today I got
some well deserved 4 week holiday... insane!

I'd like to be in a band if there's any band that is Candlemass, Slayer-like?
Or else I could form a band as a singer and maybe people join my band? smile.gif
Heavy Candlemass riff should go just fine with my voice I think.
Note:
I am a rookie vocally but I want to start this band so I can concentrate on the lyrics and vocals.

Now I sit with drum programming, bass, guitar, mix, master and when I finally reach the vocal part
I am tired of the song, the studio and myself hahaha ... so now I want to take a break from guitar play
and try to see if there's any nice vocal in me.

I'd prefer drop DGCFAD stuff like Candlemass, as a vocal sample I just sang the first verse of "Man of shadows", you can find it here: http://www.myspace.com/antipolitik4u (at the top)

Anyway... stay metal smile.gif

I like rock, classic rock, ACDC, metallica, GNR deep purple led zeppelin and such. Let me know if there are any spots available. As a guitarist that is...

This sounds like a great way to learn

Anybody up for an 80's style Thrash band?
The type of metal that just makes you wanna scream and headbang!

I noticed a few people interested in metal, but I don't know if you guys are in bands yet?!

I play guitar and would consider myself intermediate. I can handle rhythm and some non shredding solos

just a quick question though, I'm just clarifying that I need to do a collab before being able to participate in a virtual band?

oh and just a quick suggestion:
would it be possible to have a page that shows all the current and upcoming bands, and what positions they need filled?

Style: I'm open to any style but I prefer Rock (any style of Rock). I also like the Blues (especially if it's Bluesy rock!)

If you need a recording interface and software, I would suggest the Line 6 Toneport (now pod studio) along with Reaper as your digital audio workstation (DAW)

Many members here use this set-up and is one of the most affordable. smile.gif

As for the bands, stay tuned, some exiting things are in the making! cool.gif

Hey there!
I want to start a band, but I don´t know exactly what to do. Canis, Paiva, Kuba and me were chatting yesterday and everybody was up for it. Anyone else maybe? We planned to do any style (from Classic to Metal), cover songs and record our own material.

Ohhh whats up skenny?

Changes?

I'm still very interested in this. Go For Broke's current project isnt inspiring me as I had hoped it would though...

Ohhhh, I think I see whats going down here.

I'd love to join but I'm a little confused as to how this works because I've already said I'll sign up in the intermediate band sub forum and they said they pick 5 band members at random each month to join a band but here you just find people and create a band. Any help would be great. Thank You!

Hi Slash,

Basically the three level band categories that will be rotated is another way of creating some more activity. You can certainly post your interest in both if you like.

If you have a look around the threads in the sub forum, you will find some completed projects from band mates that work together on a consistent basis. Either way, I would love to see you get involved over here! smile.gif

Me too I want to be a virtual band member, mainly I focus on guitars in which I consider myself intermediate, I dont have a bass guitar even though I would gladly play. I can do vocals, I got a baritone voice, I can play some basic keyboards etc.

Well thats all. If you are intrested contact me biggrin.gif and one final note, I love gmc biggrin.gif

Posted by: slash48 Jan 3 2009, 03:24 AM

Then I guess I'll join. I'm an intermidite guitarist who likes playing classic rock and blues like led zeppilen, guns n roses, and eric clapton. I don't have any experiance with recording but I will learn all about it as soon as I can, and I'm not the best at making songs but I'm good at covering. I know all my pentatonic major and minor patterns and can improvise in blues though. Thanks for all the help.

Posted by: Viking Panda Jan 3 2009, 04:03 AM

I'll sign up here as well as the rotating board. I am beginner/intermediate guitarist. I like metal, rock, jazz, country, and blues (kind of).

Hi there,

I'm interested to join a band as a vocalist (intermediate/advanced), mostly alternative rock, or garage rock,

Are there such bands in here?

Thx

Posted by: NoSkill Apr 7 2009, 05:56 PM

Drummer for hire! I have Roland V-Tour Drums setup in my studio. I can play most styles but am least comfortable with metal. If a virtual band is in need of a drummer with a pulse, let me know.

I can happily play intermediate and advanced levels depending on musical styles and am happy to send an audition recording to see if I fit your needs.

Cheers!

Hello, I came to register and to try and reach that level of awsomeness in playing and songwriting that provides you with pride, fun and feeling good about yourself (and maybe some chicks:-) sorry I mean girls

can you record music with an internet band, that might be what I'm looking for. I'm not a band leader, I only join the bandmembers of the round table.

Please everybody talk to me if your interested in worldwide cooperation in working out songs and idea's. I think it would be very nice to have an internet band, but I never knew how to start one...

about me, you can compare me with everybody, but I don't resemble anyone. I don't follow theoretical guidelines because I don't know any (am working on that), but I have many idea's, tons of motivation, I can play what you tell me to play (memorizig is the hard part for me) except for difficult techniques and speed maybe. I don't believe in the use for me personally of focussing on sweep picking and all, need to learn much more important stuff first...

My musical influence:

Jimi Hendrix, SRV, Dire straits, Eric Johnson, stevie wonder, bob dylan, jeff buckley, nirvana, Metallica, megadeth, death, pantera, Acdc, black sabbath, zz top, johnny guitar watson, van halen, randy rhoads, rage against the machine, red hot chili peppers (first 3 albums only), pink floyd, rolling stones, pearl jam, smashing pumpkins, and some random stuff....
and of course every other blues/funk/rock/hard rock/metal song I ever heard and liked. These bands influenced me for playing guitar, writing songs/riffs , writing lyrics, how to behave in daily life, what to dream about, which drugs to use and which not to use, not buying guns, don't use airplanes/helicopters at age 27, never growing old and living a litlle bit of the rock life/attitude when poosible and sometimes when not possible still... But that's what I do...

I got a new hobby since a few weeks, writing song lyrics and writing+arranging full songs (in the past I only got as far as recording riffs or jam loops...

For me good songs have: groove or sentiment/feeling , a meaning of some kind (unless they are about meaninglessness), special moments (fills, bridges) structure and fun (when songs are as perfect as perfect can be)

I will stop now, because I am writing too much and forgot why I am writing this reply

Oh yeh, start a band...

contact me if you would rather go for a combination of luck, feel, fun and anything is possible-ness

my level... undetermined, certainly not the highest, but in some ways beginner, and in some way on the flipside of intermediance ... yeah I took another road... nah I'm just full of crap :-) I'll take beginner, I don't like pulling the group level % down. I'd like to be on the initiative and idea thinking side of productions. I play guitar, I would play bass if I had one. I can sound like one though, but I can't play slapping with a regular guitar... and that sucks, cause slapping is one of the coolest things ever invented. Recently I started exploring my singing qualities, but haven't got great results yet.. But at least I learned to sing and play guitar at the same time, very usefull and fun... for that matter I lack some confidence and practice... but Rome wasn't built in one day, so... you know...

my valuable lesson in life for today:
If you believe you are awsome... you probably suck ass.. but still strife for awsomeness, cause nothing would be more awsome... yeah, think about that... (better don't)

Hi All,

I would like to join a Blues VB or anything to do with Pink Floyd. I would consider myself as an advanced beginner.

Thanks.

I wouldn't mind doing Pink Floyd. I'm also an advanced beginner. I can do synth parts as well.
