GMC Forum _ GEAR & PRODUCTION _ Floyd Whammy Bar Issue

Posted by: Toroso Jun 5 2009, 03:59 PM

Hey all, I have a guitar with a Floyd Rose trem (licensed anyway) Got a little problem

The bar just pops into a socket and then has a screw collar to secure it. This socket drops in from the top and a sleeves come over it from the bottom. This sleeve is secured by a screw. The #^$& screw keeps coming out and the sockets gets loose or just falls out.

Anyone else run into this and what did you do about it?

I'm not sure if I understood your issue 100%
but I might have the solution.
You should remove back cover to access springs and bottom side of bridge,
then you'll notice an Allen/Hex screw right bellow the spot where bar in inserted.
Try to tight it up.
And if you cannot make it to the screw by just removing back cover
I'm afraid you'd have to remove whole bridge for a few minutes. smile.gif

Yep Muris, it's that little allen screw that keeps coming loose. I can get to it from the back OK. I was thinking maybe a drop of Loktite might do the trick. I'm afraid to tighten it too much. ohmy.gif

You can hardly tighten it too much,
unless you really push over the limit!
No need for glue tho, just allen key. smile.gif
