GMC Forum _ Marcus Lavendell _ Endorsement - Elixir Strings

Posted by: lavendell Jan 15 2008, 03:18 PM

Hey guys! smile.gif

I’m very happy to announce that I’ve now got an endorsement deal with Elixir Strings! biggrin.gif

It all happened very fast; They called me up last week, then I met them over lunch yesterday, we talked for an hour or so and then signed the contract. They also asked if I was interested in playing at guitar shows, clinics and stuff like that. So i’m very excited about it! biggrin.gif

YES!!! Way to go Marcus!! That's awesome news!! biggrin.gif biggrin.gif

I can't think of a more deserving person!

Elixir makes great strings. How did they hear about you?

Edit: does this mean you have to change your instructor info to read "what strings do you use?" answer "elixir!" laugh.gif

Posted by: Bondy Jan 15 2008, 03:36 PM

Wow great well done

Posted by: PlayAllDay Jan 15 2008, 03:43 PM

Congrats Marcus - that's fabulous. biggrin.gif I use Elixer's on my acoustics but my muso friends always talk me out of trying them on the electrics becuase they say that the tone suffers too much smile.gif - obviously you don't think this, I imagine you play mostly electric? So maybe I need to test them out after all...

Posted by: lavendell Jan 15 2008, 03:45 PM

Thanks a lot guys!! smile.gif

They saw me the first time on YouTube, but I also got recommended by another guitarist (a swedish studio musician, who seem to have played with almost every artist in the world laugh.gif )

Yes, I think I'll change my info page to something like that laugh.gif

http://www.psychicmasterclass.net

Are you ready!!? Actually I don´t need to ask you that, I already know. So if you also want to know try it out now for free. And if you like it become a paying member and get the extended service. Start out at beginner level: Knowing who knocks on the door, making the call, what kind of food your mother/wife/yourself is doing today and then move on to the more advanced stuff like knowing if the internet babe is hot or not. It could be photoshoped you know. Predict some serious gambling and much much more.

Cu there GMC friends! And one last thing. Homepage only reveil itself for those truly worthy of "the gift". The rest will get a message saying "homepage can not be shown" or something a like. Just practice your mental game for a couple of years and try again.

Nanoweb 010 and I havn't put the on yet, I was thinking of adding new pu's the the same time and I hope to get it done in the weekend. I'm still debating wether I should put the Evolution pu's in my LP or save them for the guitar that I build biggrin.gif desicions desicions laugh.gif

Posted by: iainsteward Apr 28 2008, 02:57 PM

how good are Elixir strings, where I come from they are £8.00 a set which is over double what brands like Dean Markley, D'Addario and Ernie Ball are charging, are they worth paying that much for?!? Do they still last the same length of time, is the tone that much greater to pay over double?!?

Thanks,
Iain!

Posted by: Marcus Lavendell Apr 28 2008, 03:38 PM

Hi Iain, smile.gif
I've used the same set for over 3 months now, and there's no sign at all that I'd need to re-string. According to Elixir they last 5 times longer. I wouldn't say the tone is much greater than other high quality strings (I can barely hear any difference). But they feel more comfortable, and they definitely are high quality! Another thing I like that most Elixir users don't mention, is that the coating makes it a bit smoother to play (since you're not touching the steel). Another plus is that you don't have to clean them as often wink.gif

I know you can find them at eBay for a better price. So I think you should try one set and see if you like them.

Posted by: botoxfox Apr 28 2008, 06:56 PM

You've had them on for 3 months you say? I put nanowebs on my guitar and the high E snapped after 2 days. They haven't gotten dirty tho, which is nice, I've often made mistakes when sliding because of the friction on dirty strings.

Posted by: Mackietao Apr 29 2008, 11:48 AM

Maby I should try Elexir next time I restring.. But I do not play that often so I never have to re-string.. =)

I use them on my acoustic steelstringed guitar though.. Have to change more often on that one or else tone and tuning gets worse. The elexir strings has kicked the shit out of other brands I tried on the acoustic. I´m changing strings like 2 times a year on that one when I use Elexir.

Posted by: Batista Apr 29 2008, 01:04 PM

You don't accidentally have a set you don't need do you? tongue.gif My Schecter are screaming for a restring biggrin.gif

Posted by: Marcus Lavendell Apr 29 2008, 01:46 PM

Sorry Batista, can't help you there rolleyes.gif smile.gif

Posted by: Batista Apr 29 2008, 01:56 PM

Darn ^^ Well I think I got a couple of sets with Elixir strings on the shelf myself (followed with my LP), so I might try them then, since they have gotten so good reviews here. smile.gif

Congratulations, Marcus ^^

Any news on the other company you've been in contact with? =)

Congrats either way smile.gif
