This fosters success and helps a person to develop an ear for music. When I began to play guitar in 1992 , there was no internet, it was very rare to have tabs so the only thing you could do was play the songs by ear. Im not saying playing the songs with tabs is wrong, of course there is a lot of songs that u need the tabs, but in this case if u try to play Like a Stone by ear Im pretty sure you will figure it out. I started playing when I saved up enough money for a guitar back in 1983 when I was 13. I remember taking it home and sitting in my room and wondering what to do next. There were no resources at all. I couldn't afford lessons or to buy the tab books that were available at the time. I did learn to play by ear because I had to, but I have to admit it was somewhat frustrating.
