Hiya all,

since I joined GMC yesterday, I decided to write a little 'hello' here. I am 30yo, playing for 13 years now, and only got into technique a couple years ago. Before that, I was heavily into Slash, you know, more melodic but sloppy smile.gifµ

Then I learned of George Lynch and decided to work a bit on technique. I consider myself as an average player (16th note runs alternate picked around 120-130bpm--And No, not chromatic runs) and want to improve a bit on my alternate picking, tapping and sweeping.

I currently play on a Line6 Vetta II, an ENGL powerball and a Soldano X88R. I do have a big list amps that I bought/sold afterwards.

Bogner XTC 101B
Mesa Boogie Triaxis
Mesa Boogie Studio Pre
Mesa Boogie Formula pre
Mesa Boogie 2ch Dual rectifier
Randall RG100 G2 SC
Peavey 5150 block letter
Peavey Triple XXX
Marshall JCM2000 TSL
Marshall JCM2000 DSL
Marshall JMP-1
Marshall Silver Jubilee 2553
Marshall JCM Slash 2555
Marshall VS8100
Marshall JCM 900
Soldano SP77
Soldano X88R
ENGL Savage 120
ENGL Powerball
Line6 Vetta II
Rocktron Vendetta

As you can see, I've been a gear whore, but currently very happy with the remaining amps (although the powerball will go)

Cheers and happy playing

The Pball is a nice amp, and suited for what I do, however since I just left my band (in which I used him) and I still have the Line6 for home use, I don't really need him anymore.

And, I do have a Soldano X88R that (which I couldn't use in the band as I haven't got a poweramp at the moment) has the killer tone that lives in my head when I think of 'THE' tone. So my target is to get a decent poweramp (prob VHT 2502) to get that rig up again

If you combine the two, not really needing the amp, and secondly having another amp that has the tone I am looking for, I see no reason in keeping the powerball

well when I went shopping, I had a couple amps on my list.

Bogner Uber
Bogner XTC
VHT Ultralead

I tried em all, but it was the flexibility of the XTC that won me over.

I liked the XTC very much (with the matching bogner V30 cab), as it could reach a lot of sonic territory.

Clean, lo-gain, plexi, 80ies high gain till downtuned death-metal, the amp could do it all, without a sweat.
What finally brought me to sell it, was that I didn't feel comfortable taking it to gigs (with drunken metalheads hanging over it, with their beer and stuff ...) and the fact that the flexibility came with a price. I worked with a Voodoolabs GXC Switcher to be able to switch with the G-force at that time, and after a while I got bored with the complexity and sold everything. For half of the selling price I bought my Vetta smile.gif
