Check out this clip. All I"m changing is the amount of pressure I"m putting on the bridge for the palm mute. My picking intensity stays the same. I play each lick twice, once with a light mute, then with a heavy mute. it makes a drastic difference.

I sometimes have people download my 11 rack patches and send me recordings that don't sound like the patch. After some digging, I found out it was mostly just a lack of right hand pressure making things go wrong for folks.

Give this a listen and see if you can tell the difference in mute smile.gif It really is the secret to Heavy tone. This patch doesn't use that much gain so it sounds much lighter with a lighter mute.

Cool clip, made it very easy to hear the difference (see Todd's comments below the audio curve).

Thanks smile.gif I often share presets and then hear very different results when other record with them. Come to find out, it all comes down to how much pressure is used during the palm mute.

Goes to show how much comes down to the player and not the rig/preset smile.gif

Something I struggled with when I first started guitar. Now it feels natural, and I know how much pressure to apply and the position to place my palm in order to achieve the desired effect.
