You're probably right but they do say 'any style' so any of you guys here who are more mainstream should have a look.

Since most of GMC-ers love metal I think we should step away from this one smile.gif Of course I wish luck anyone who gives it a try.

I never thought Lordi could have won Eurovision (fluff pop central)...but they did. If you're not in it, you'll never know.

What is "DHS Technology" and how can it predict a score against hits over the last 6 years? Not sure about this one, though I could be/probably am wrong.. laugh.gif Akon is getting paid, that's for sure. Don't think that an all metal song has a chance but something along the lines of a 3 Doors Down tune might. Good luck to anyone of you that enters. smile.gif

This is very intriguing.....for such a positive and inspiring community, every reply has been negative and resistant. Have a think about that, guys. When did "can do" turn into "no use trying"?

You are right my brother, and i hate to be a downer, the thing is.. to me this looks more like a business than an opportunity, i was kind of excited until i red "A fee of $29 per song applies. The contest ends on May 31, 2010." this is a super business for em you know, they got a lot of money for all the songs, and then they got a hit-machine-compliant-artist and probably they will make more money with him/her.

It's a thing of honor for me, i don't really want to support the current music industry, full of top 10 machines

I agree with all that. I DO think it is a business and money making thing for them, and I do agree that they will end up with an artist that's just good for their piggybank (that's business after all), and I do agree that the general music genres popular here would not be Top 40 American pop material.

Nevertheless, the opportunity is here for those who want to try, and opportunities are opportunities. They're only a waste of time if one doesn't try.

Thanks for the info - this sounds like a competition a little different from the [guitar based] web competitions!

Well, it says the submitted song is compared to hit records of the last 6 years. Surely there were some cool rock tunes during that time, just think about Green Days American Idiot, Lordis Hardrock Halleluja etc...
but the website sure looks like they want some R'n'B stuff. Still, if I was a good song writer and singer, I'd submit something.

Looks interesting. Here is a more famous song contest that seems similar in idea:

I think they will just pick the first catchy pop tune, they pretty much imply that. I don't think any of my music would have a chance laugh.gif

Or...Do you guys think a Progressive/Death Metal song about the interactions of Quantum Mechanics and the universe will make a good pop song! smile.gif.....

.....I think not.... sad.gif

Well, maybe if it's a mid tempo power metal song about an astronaut...just like the masterpiece Major Tom (well, it's not powermetal...but still):

yes...we have a bunch of such new wave songs in Germany...
