My guitars rarely go out of tune unless I do one thing and that is tune my guitar to 1 step down. If I do this then it will take time to stick in this tuning and if I leave it in 1 step down tuning and then put it back in Standard after a week it takes a while to stick in that tuning after retuning. Why is this the case or is it that the strings need to have time to settle in different tensions like when you change your strings?

Here's what I do when I change action/intonation/tuning/whatever:

tune
stretch them all pretty hard(well, not too hard)
tune again
stretch again
tune

Should be able to stay in tune almost perfectly now. Takes about 5 mins.

It's mainly a difficulty when we play live and need to swap tunings.

Multiple guitars? Better tuning pegs?

Maybe the tuning pegs got looser. Here's what you can do: open the casing for the tuning pegs, and tighten up the screws inside. Your guitar is great and it should not have tuning problem at all.

I will do that as I think you're right after more thought into the problem my self as it is opnly 2 strings that really do it and the tuning pegs do seem much looser than the others. Will try this tonight smile.gif

Could it be the strings? Some strings simply hold the tunings better than others.
