Ok Ben I have a couple takes neither of which is perfect and I am not sure which one is best so I will leave that for you to decide.
This lesson made me fight myself to play that alternate picking rather than a broken strum or sweep that I would usually play over the parts where there is no string skipping, the string skipping parts is where I would normally alternate pick. So I had to pay extra attention to that and fight the urge! biggrin.gif Also I did some alternate fingerings in this lesson which I am sure you will spot. wink.gif Thanks for the challenge man! Looking forward to the next task, something tells me we are going to step it up a notch but I am not really sure what this is all building up to ph34r.gif

Hey Rich ! I really like your interpretation of the track, with the tapping at the end smile.gif

I never thought about playing the 2nd chord with my thumb - will try that !

You don't seem to have any problems with those stretchy add9 chords at all smile.gif

The one thing I would want to address if it were me is a tendency to play in front of the beat. I would put this down to concentrating really hard.. it often makes us rush without realising it.

So, now your fingers are all warmed up guys, time for Task 2 ph34r.gif

Hey thanks alot Ben! smile.gif yeah when I was listening to the track I did I definately noticed I tended to rush it a bit. I think its because I was practicing it at a higher tempo, it actually seems a bit easier at a faster tempo , I was going to record it at a higher tempo but could'nt figure out how to do it in Reaper, I was changing the bpm but it didnt have any effect, I need to check out some more tutorials smile.gif I guess concentrating to hard may have something to do with rushing it as well, good point! Mainly my concentration was to resist the urge to slowly strum rather than AP. Glad you approve of the use of the thumb for the second chord ,I started out fretting all the chords like you were but then tried the diff fingerings on the second day of practice. It made it much easier I thought.I also used a barre on the first chord and also the E chord.
This task was an awesome warmup , I never realized picking thru some extended chords could warm me up so well but it did for sure!
Looking forward to Task #2!

Peace! Rich....

I used a photo cam once for recording vids too.. it was pretty good.

Ok, this take is so embarrasing that I won't dare even uploading it to youtube smile.gif. To be honest I've never really played or practiced playing chords (except powerchords and basic major/minor shapes), and changing chords was always difficult for me. And this stretch.. My fingers are too short for it biggrin.gif. Also I've noticed that it's harder to play that stretchy chord on the second fret not only because of bigger stretch, but also because of the note order. Normally I would put index and ring fingers first, and then stretch pinky kind of from the ring finger (using it as support). When I first have to put index and pinky, the pinky assumes wrong position, and as a result the string under it becomes muted.

And timing is all over the place as I've tried not to mess up everything else so much that I didn't pay attention to it. Oh well, I need more practice with chords smile.gif.

Found him ph34r.gif

Hey that's not bad at all ! I could tell you found the add9 chords a bit tricky but overall the piece still sounded good. I liked the tone as well smile.gif

Task 2 awaits you ph34r.gif
