*NOTE: THIS IS A 7 STRING GUITAR IN THE VIDEO. I"M STARTING ON THE E (6th) string AND THE TAB IS FOR 6 STRING GUITARS. IGNORE THE LOW 7th STRING.
In this Quick Licks, we run a lick up the neck. Keep it clean and lightly palm mute the whole thing to reduce string noise. This one also makes use of repeated notes. It's a great way to run a scale. Once you get used to this, it can work on any scale/mode. I"m just using a Minor shape because I love the Minor scale smile.gif This one is in A Minor so try it with any A Minor backing on youtube to play it with music. Makes a great drill as well. There is a little slide at the very end which a skill worth working on.Dealers choice on picking here. I"m doing some Alternate Picking, but if you want to "Strike Once Hammer Many" that's fine too. However it works best for you is perfectly ok. It's mostly about doing the run up the neck and the final slide. Stick the landing and BAM!

This one may seem hard but once you play through it, it's actually really simple. Give it a whirl!

Nice! That saucy bend at the end was quite spiff as well! This is a Looooong scale run and one of the most difficult of all of them. You ran through it with grace and style. Very well played. I hope you put this to good use in a solo or collab, I'd love to see it! In other words you just...
LEVELED UP!!

Perfect! That's it exactly. I should have mentioned that the vid is a 7 string. I just added a note on the video. I apologize for the tab being wonky on round one. You nailed it! Mucho congrats. You can run scales up the neck with the best of them. Didn't seem like any trouble at all! Well played!! You just..

NAILED IT!! Very smoothly played. This is a nice, somewhat, long scale run up the neck. Some folks have a hard time with this type of lick for various reasons. You don't have any trouble at all. Also, you really get the idea of muting harder on the lower strings and a bit less on the higher strings, especially on the last note where vibrato comes in. This is what gives a run like this it's dynamic sound. If the entire run is played the same way, e.g. all muted the same way, it sounds flat and dull. It's important to be able to adapt ones muting to the lick so that the lick sounds as dynamic as possible. Well played!!

Good work!! This requires that you keep a good mute while you pick and traverse up the neck. Very easy to mess this one up by just sliding a bit to far. Sliding up the fretboard is a skill by itself and you've done it a few times in bootcamp and it shows!! A practiced hand is required. Also, your pace is nice and smooth. You even pull good vibrato in the end! Your vibrato continues to get better. Keep working on it!
