So, I've got a lot of questions. Hopefully somebody can help me out...
I've got a Schecter C-1 Classic. The stock schematic for it is here. I plan on replacing both volume and tone pots with push-pull pots. For the volume pot, I just want to install a coil cut. I don't want the 2, 3, and 4 positions to change, but in the 1 and 5 positions, I want the volume pot pulled out to become a coil cut. I think the way to do this is just by running one of the coils to ground when it's pulled out. I'm a bit lost on how to do this, and I don't know which coil to use anyways (north or south). Does it even make a difference? By the way, as far as the colors go, black is the North start, white is North finish, red is South finish, and Green is south start. For the tone pot, I want to install the Black Ice passive overdrive circuit. This looks much more straightforward, and they have installation instructions on this site as well, but installing this with the coil cut craziness going on might be tricky. I want to use a push/pull installation on this, so when the tone pot is in, it functions normally with the Black Ice at 0, but when pulled out, the tone is at 10 and the pot controls the Black Ice. It installs quite similarly to a capacitor, right? One thing that I don't understand is, a capacitor normally runs the signal to ground, but with this, you wouldn't want that to happen, right? And yet, the installation guide says to run the Black Ice circuit from the pot to ground. Why is this, and what does that accomplish? I would think the signal should run through the circuit and go on to the output. If someone can help clear things up, that would be great. Particularly if someone could write up a schematic for this project... or even just explain how guitar wiring works a little more. I'm completely lost at this point. Do I need to change the wiring of the switch at all? Or just the pots? Also, can you ground wires to the back of a push/pull pot the same way you would a normal pot? If not, where do you ground them instead? Sorry if I'm not very clear, I probably left some out. Let me know if you have questions, help is very much appreciated! I haven't the time to look in detail to be honest. It is really easy to do wiring for anything in a guitar. I wired a distortion effect into my old guitar and had a knob installed for it
