I've seen lots of spam recently on Facebook, it could be that other companies are doing some of this spam on purpose? Also, there is more and more members, more fake accounts (statistics show that female users usually create more "fake" accounts, so watch it guys ). If the situation continues at this rate, we might see the loss of interest from the FB members. What do you guys think on this topic?
FB is still great place for advertizement, it features lots of cool ways to invite people to events, provide them with whatever information you need etc.. But, there are more and more people who send invites, more and more events, more and more information. There is need to somehow filter this information, and it's becoming increasingly difficult with 3K+ friends How do you guys battle these problems?
There is competition in Google+, although it's just the start, but it could be that it's undermining FB on purpose. Google has the means to do it. What do you think, will Google + take over at some point, simply because it's "cleaner"?
Well, I think the honest answer is that all these social network sites are their own worst enemies. They create something that works.. and then when it seems to work too well, they change it.
If you don't keep on top, there's always someone behind you waiting to take your place....
The only opponent is within
As I mentioned on the other thread, Facebook is becoming exactly like Myspace was a while back and look at MS now!!! It's like an empty Funfair!!!
I must say that my band grow a lot in the last year and this is thanks to Facebook. It's an excellent tool for promoting everything and I hope that it continues growing... or maybe we will have any other thing even better. I'm happy of living the Facebook era and I'm anxious to know what happens in the future...
to be honest, i am part of those really that don't care
Good question! Who knows, could be big for years. Could get wiped out by the next "new thing". Google+ is a non starter but gotta give them credit for trying. But yeah, zero chance they are going to topple facebook IMHO.
google+ ? They need to hire a designer really. Its all over the place. I did try hangout though. It beats Skype. Facebook, probably never. I don't install 3rd party apps so mine is clean.
I'm not part of Facebook. And here's why.
It's so much to keep up with. And so much to deal with. There's always issues of "Hey why didn't you friend me" or "Why did you take me off your friends list." It's so personal with that friends thing. And so time consuming too. I look at all the comments and questions on pages. Seems to have more disadvantages than advantages. The big thing is that I already spend so much time on the internet as it is. This would be ONE MORE THING to add to my list. Perhaps one day...but by then, I think Facebook will be replaced, just as Myspace was. Maybe not Google+ (whatever that is) but something will surely come along eventually. It always does. People will tire of the same ole thing. That's human's nature.
Anyway, that's just my spill. If others want to deal with all the downs, that's cool. I'm just not up for it.
I'm not famous on Youtube - BUT I kinda like not getting thousands and thousands of views per day because with that comes more trolls and haters - and spammers. I also can be more personal with people. But I think I'll come close one day slowly.
I guess I'm weird, but I still don't use any social network.
I'm the resistance
What? Brandon and Fran don't use social network?? That's impossible
joking aside, I really thought you guys are active there, you seem so active in some other areas, Fran is our wiki moderator, and Brandon is very active on YT, but yes, it does makes sense, + facebook can really be time consuming. But still.. no account whatever?
I like facebook
The problem comes when like Myspace it is abused for company and band promotion and advertising. I think there is a balance needed.
I don't like being spammed by bands or companies, but I do like to be informed and being able to communicate with them
I can only say this...
