Hey guys! As I said in Pixies thread, I'm studying and creating lessons to continue with the Indie Rock series... these days I have been learning many Sonic Youth songs to get deeply into their style and create a tune that reflects their style. After some hours of dealing with really strange positions and shapes I started to think that maybe they were using weir tunings for their songs... and the answer was: YES!
I think that they are one of the bands that experiments the most with alternative tuning... Here you have some of them: E A D G B E E A D E C D G G D D D# D# F# F# F# F# E B D# D# C# C# G G G G C C A# A# A A E E F# A F# F# G G A A F# F# F# F# E B F# F# C# C# C# C# D D D D A A C C E B G D A A E E A A E B E E A B A C C G G# C and my favourite since it says GAB in the beginning... G A B D E G I will call this one "The Gab Tuning" hahah and will experiment with it! It's used in this song.. Well, isn't that obsession for the Alternative Tunings??? In this link you can find the tuning used in every song of them... most of the times the two guitars use different tuning in the same song! Sonic Youth Tuning Tutorial -------------------- My lessons
