> Rules

Here is where the magic happens: the REC board turns bedroom guitarists into real pros. Remember - it doesn't matter if you fail or pass, as long as you keep posting REC takes you will progress.

The entries will be graded by a number of instructors. After grading, members will be accredited with the appropriate points if they pass, and adjustments will be made to their REC level.
Passing grade is 6 or higher.

Hi Bill, good to see you rocking again smile.gif

I think the Surf Rock tune is a good choice to keep our minds off this typical British weather wink.gif

I'm sure Gab has already been working on this with you but I would say to focus on getting the timing much more accurate if you can. During the first half you got left behind quite a bit although you caught up for the second half. Try playing along with the version that has Gabriel's guitar on it as well so you have a definite reference point so you know where you're veering off the tempo.

Nice bit of vibrato at the end !!

Hi Bill! I'm glad to find a new take from you and honoured because it's one of my lessons. smile.gif smile.gif
As Ben said, the problem in this take is timing. There are some parts where you play the phrases ok, but in most of the sections the phrasing is not the same compared with the original melody. My suggestion is to practice this lesson over the guitar pro or over my playing to be sure that you are playing it using the correct timing. Once you master it in that way, you can play it over the backing.

Hello Bill! As my mates said, I am glad to see that you are on your way of becoming a regular poster in the REC zone!

Timing, is indeed the thing on which you have to focus! As Gabe and Ben said, try playing against the original recording to get the right timing. Another good thing would be to try and tap your foot on the quarter notes, while playing. It's always helpful once you get the hang of it wink.gif

Keep rocking Sir!!

Cosmin

You did a very nice job! I am glad to see your new submission and it sounded pretty good! You had some nice moments!
Timing is the main issue I would suggest to work on this lesson a little bit more using a metronome! You can get it to sound perfect just will take some time!
Keep up a good work!
