GMC Forum _ PRACTICE ROOM _ Thank You Gmc!

Posted by: Blister Jan 30 2012, 09:16 PM

Hi All!

Tomorrow marks my one year anniversary here at GMC! biggrin.gif I can't believe how much I have improved & learned so far this year. (OK, honestly that's not saying a whole lot considering from the level where I had started. biggrin.gif ) I felt if I could keep practicing & stay motivated for a year then I must be serious enough about my playing guitar. Of course, I played earlier in my lifetime just didn't have enough motivation to keep it up. I've got a new interface on order & I have a goal of doing four REC's this year (hopefully more, I just want to make sure my goal is achievable!) I feel I'm really missing out by not having done any REC's yet.

I want to thank all the instructors & fellow students that make this guitar community so amazing. I get on the site nearly every day, learn more & get introduced to "new-to-me" guitarists all the time. The willingness to help & encourage me to reach my goals goes way beyond my expectations! I get more motivated & excited each day!

Being a part of GMC is like being able to attend jam sessions with the greatest guitarists. You can talk to anyone. Ask any question. I feel lucky just to be allowed to be a part of this site.

Thanks again, GMC! I guess you're stuck with me now! wink.gif

Happy anniversary Gary! smile.gif

Thank you so much for your kind words and making this community great with your presence!
I really like your REC goal - can't wait to see your videos!

Cheers,
Bogdan

You have been a great addition to the community Gary biggrin.gif Your upbeat attitude makes reading your posts enjoyable.

First of all, I want to thank you, Kris, for creating such an fun & jam-packed site (catch the pun? wink.gif) . Ok, I have to admit, that opening video when you first come to the site kinda scared me at first. But that is such an important video because it explains what GMC is & how anyone, no matter what, if they have the desire to play guitar, they can. I used to believe that you had to have a special gift or talent to play guitar. The main thing GMC has taught me is that is a bunch of Hoo-Haw! If you have the passion in you, you can play it. Yes, some progress faster, but that's ok, I'll just get there in my time.

Also, thanks to all those that work behind the scenes at GMC. We see Bogdan & Fran in the forums, but I know there are a lot more that make GMC what it is.

Saddlefall, I hope you stay at least a year. There is so much stuff here, I still am finding new things.

Ivan, thanks for lessons & spoken intros & the lessons. Very helpful.

Sinisa, I love that Blues Intro lesson! I enjoy reading your interesting forum posts, too!

Brandon, you are one of the most inspiring people here! That video about your study & progress was genious! I will be learning how to record myself this year & will try to follow your example.

Professor Gab, I will need to be here ten years in order to complete all your lessons. I love your style!

Chandra, you are one of the Rec-masters. I hope to follow your example, as well!

Just Cursin', you are right, it does seem longer than a year. Although, in reality, I have been here about two years. I stalked GMC as a guest for about a year before I joined. cool.gif That was a mistake, I should have joined sooner. The lessons I was practicing as a guest, I had to re-learn, as I learned them incorrectly! smile.gif I enjoy our time in the chats, too!

Todd, you're another reason I love my weekends. My progress to date has Midnight Metal Madness to thank. You make my fingers run the fretboard & blow me away by how much I improve in just one two-hour lesson! And Todd, you shred so fast that time speeds up during the chat & two hours go by, in what seems like, only 30 minutes. I thought only Superman could do that!

Cosmin, I feel lucky just to be here. I love your diversity...from Mozart to Metal...that is awesome!

Ben, I'm always curious to read your posts. They are either great words of encouragement and/or outrageously funny to the point of getting that painful cramp in my side from laughing so hard! laugh.gif And your right, I can't believe it has been a year already.

Fran, I hope I will be here at least four years, as well!

Dino, I thank you for your kind words. I'm glad we share the same feeling about GMC!

Christian, my partner in crime during Todd's chat! How we can have so much fun & learn so much at the same time is amazing! I believe someone told us it's important to stay hydrated when having an intense practice session! wink.gif

Bogdan, the "goto man"! You know how to get things done & taken care of! Thank you so much for all you do! I'm a little apprehensive about posting my first REC. I'm sure that's normal. The talent I have seen in the REC's is truly great but also a little intimidating. It may be a while as I need to learn recording, too. I know there is plenty of vids & posts about recording.

Mudbone, thanks for your kind words. I try to be an encourager! smile.gif I have learned a great deal from your posts.

And to all the instructors, a huge THANK YOU! Thank you for your preparations for video chats, all those lessons & bt's (excellent quality) you provide, your encouraging attitude & of course, your patience when you have answered the same question for the millionth time, but appearing as though it was the first time you have answered the question. smile.gif I wish I had the time to participate in every chat but I have to work sometime!

Sorry this is so long, but hey ... it's my BIG DAY!!!! biggrin.gif

What a nice post mate!! It's so emotive to read all those things about all of us... a post like this makes me want to make a big gathering with all of us in any part of the world.. a party/festival where we could make all this virtual relationships real for a day...
thanks for being here mate. smile.gif

Posted by: Cosmin Lupu Feb 1 2012, 08:10 AM

Thank you man! Your words are inspiring for all of us and I was really curious to read what you had to say about each and everyone tongue.gif biggrin.gif
