GMC Forum _ PRACTICE ROOM _ Where To Begin On Gmc ?

Posted by: Danny McDonald Jan 15 2009, 02:15 PM

Afternoon all, just joined up GMC about 20 minutes ago and ive given myself a 3 hour break between studying for exams.

Just curious about where really to begin on the site. Is there an actual direct path I should follow in terms of lessons and progression, or am I free to choose and discern between what I feel best suits me ?

Being honest, I think I may just take things from the very top just so I know where I stand in my playing ability.

Cheers, Danny.

Its cool to find a lesson that you like and seems doable to you and than practicing it..

You can find lesson categories here :
http://www.guitarmasterclass.net/video-lessons.htm

And be sure to check out lesson series here :
http://www.guitarmasterclass.net/lesson-series.htm

There are lessons in all styles and for all techniques , just think of what you want to develop and hit the search button...
Also you can write down in here which techniques , styles you want to develop and members can give you some recommendations.

Cheers

GMC is a huge resource of all kinds of stuff - every level, every style. It'll take you some time to explore it completely.
Search for a desired style first and then adjust the level suitable for you...

Any questions: feel free to ask... biggrin.gif

Also, one of the cool things about GMC I think is that each instructor is pretty unique with their style, teaching, and so forth. A suggestion would be to do an advance search and go through all the instructors and select your level of difficulty. That will give you a good overview of who the instructors are too.

Thanks for the feedback everyone.

Welcome! You might want to check out the lessons plan, and the beginner kick off! Also try to use the advanced search as your friend, otherwise thinks can be quite chaotic xD

I recommend you Ivan Milenkovic lessons, they are the most useful to the beginner-intermediate level, and I think that everything is covered in them. Learn one his lesson, then another, and so on. Be sure to use backing tracks, extremely useful, you have them in different speeds, so basically you can practice over them, you have tabs, slow videos, everything.

I always recommend to start here although they could be basic lessons maybe there are somethings that you didn't know and watching them don't take you so long so....

Welcome to GMC Danny first of all smile.gif

What kind of style are you interested ? What is your current level of playing ?
Perhaps video and/or audio recording of yourself would open up a lot of answers to your question smile.gif

It would be great if we could hear/see some of your recording, I mean, anything. We will review your technique, and point out on what you should be working on. Maybe create a practice routine plan.
