How To Play Satch Without Whammy?

The tune we`re gonna cover is Joe Satriani - The Extremist I got most of the solos down, but one problem remains. Joe`s playing with the whammybar...and I have a stoptail! Even though I will buy a new guitar soon, it won`t be soon enough. Any suggestions for suitable FX, tricks etc. to pull uf instead of the whammy ? Yup, thats right I imagine a bottleneck would give a suitable sound....but how to get the bottleneck on and off fast ? I think I need all my fingers free to concentrate both on the solo before and after the harmonics. did you play the entire solo with the slide equipped or did you just pick it up for the harmonic part? Well some guys do it with a ring but there's also this other thing here called a jetslide which looks quick to engage/disengage as well. I forgot to even MENTION ring size before checking out, LOL I sent him a pm though, I presume it`s not too late to inform him I know that the smallest dunlop glass slide (211) are made for ringfinger-size 5.5 , so I suggested him to make a 6 for me since that slide is a bit tight. No way you can play those fast legato runs before the harmonics with a bottleneck on your finger. I remember I used to grab the slide just for that part...
