Hi,

First off I want to let you know I know I have another topic but I made this one as its a different question and I just want to keep the forum clean.

Anyway, after alot of help from the guys here and some friends ive been told that because I dont play LIVE etc I basically just learn songs in my house and want to put covers on YouTube etc of my favourite songs, I should maybe opt to changing my Peavey VK112 for a set of Active Speakers.

Ive noticed myself that when I play via the amp I can get a nice tone but when it comes to recording it it sounds nothing like it, and it also makes a difference when trying to record it as it doesnt feel the same.

So I spoke to a friend who is very good at recording and he does it all the time. He said with a set of Active Speakers you get no latency lag when playing and the tone you create will be the same as recording, which means you can get it perfect 1st time.

What I want is some opinions on this before I decide to go down that road.

Im using a Line6 PODxt Live for those who dont know.

Is it a good idea to do this?
What are good active speakers to get?
I saw these: http://www.guitar.co.uk/studio_monitors/27...ve_usb_monitors
Will the quality be just as good as my Peavey?
I have Logitech Z4 speakers but I take it there not good enough?
How would I connect it all in?
Is it ok to record via USB on a laptop or should I get an external USB soundcard (I have Creative XFi 5.1 Surround)

Thanks and all help is appreciated greatly,

Hi,

I usually just use my Peavey VK112 amp and PODxt live and jam away on the guitar but when I get to recording the tones sound completely different, even great ones I download I need to tweak as they sound too dull/bland.

Now im wanting to start getting some recording done and videos up so I can improve with some good old CnC lol.

I use a PODxt Live and the program I have is REAPER.

Can anyone point me to a tutorial or guide on how to properly record high quality audio covers to my PC, and if possible, rather than playing with no noise, so I can hear something.

In the past my 2 choices where, playing with AMP on but the tone was different from recording, or playing via speakers but there was a 2-3second delay lag so it was really off putting.

Thanks and I hope someone can help me get my YouTube channel alive and kickin with covers smile.gif

Hi,

I have been following this guide on how to record properly with Reaper and my PODxt Live for making guitar covers however I have a few questions:

1) When I hit PLAY to hear anything on Reaper it doesnt play. If I change it from ASIO to DirectSound I hear it fine but he doesnt have that in the guide, how can I get around this?

2) Is this the best method for recording guitar covers?

Thanks,

Hi,

On my Jackson RR24 I got it all tuned nice to Drop C, then put the bolts on at the top got it in tune again to make sure, but whenever I even touch my whammy bar its guarenteed to go way off tune.

Ive seen alot of people go nuts with theres and its still playable after, how can I acheive this and keep it in tune after using it?

Thanks,

Rowan

Hi,

On my Jackson RR24 I had .11s and now ive went to .10s

Ive put the strings on and the guitar is in tune (im sure) but the bridge is sticking up.

I have 2 springs in the back of the guitar.

What is the best way to fix this, do I screw inwards or outwards from the back etc.

Also I want my whammy bar to be very loose and easy to use, last time I had to push it quite hard to get it down this time I want it very easy like ive seen im some videos.

All help is greatly appreciate.

Thanks,

Rowan
