You might just need a break. It sounds like you may be a bit burned out? Just put the guitar down for few days and when you come back to it, see if you don't feel more ready dig in! That usually works for me
Also, when you come back try todays quicklicks 30. It's a very unique way to play a very common scale. Wads of fun

Hello Laurent,
I go through this a lot, it's tough but don't beat yourself up about it. Have a little guitar holiday, you will find it calling you back in a short while. Maybe you're trying too hard, expecting too much or doing too much.
I can only really point you to this thread and hope it helps you. https://www.guitarmasterclass.net/guitar_forum/index.php?showtopic=59080
Cheers buddy. You're heart will lead you.
I am going to be blunt , this happens with everything all the time with life. If you look , it is the things that you have pushed thru that you have succeeded at. You will have to make a decision , to push thru or not . Yes it is wise to take a break from time to time. But ultimately you will have to answer the question if you want it bad enough . I do not know of a good guitar player that does not have a story of overcoming this
Hi Laurent,
This is something that most of us experiment at any time of our guitar journey. In my case, there are different things that can make me get back to motivation. These are some of the most effective:
- Travelling. I usually feel inspired and motivated after knowing new places, and staying for some days out from home.
- Getting back to those musicians and artists that inspire me the most. In my case, I just have to watch some Steve Vai's interviews or speechs, or watch a cool live show from one of my favorite bands and all the motivation gets back.
- Reading. I love going to an open air place and read a book.
- Giving my guitar practice a rest and dedicate some time to planning my next goals as musician.
- Playing and doing collaborations with other musicians. This happens at GMC a lot, but it can also be done in the real life.
So those are just a few of the things that help me to keep motivating.
If you feel that you also need to re-plan your guitar sessions in order to find them more motivated. I would start by doing some kind of balance of what you've done, the results you've got, and write down new goals, ideas, songs to learn, styles to master, and everything that you'd love doing. Then, you can build the plan in order to achieve it, and off course, we can help you here.
I know the title of this is a typo but it would make a good song title! "THE LAKE OF MOTIVATION "

Great that you've found a direction that makes you happy!! I agree. Put the shred down for a while. You've done plenty of that and have a good handle on it. Focusing on jazz/rythm/vibrato/bending would be a great idea as it would allow you to grow in a new direction. My suggestion would be to focus on learning the songs you mentioned as that would be a great way to work on the bits in question.
