GMC Forum _ CHILL OUT _ Nevermore

Posted by: Slavenko Erazer Sep 5 2012, 12:04 PM

There hasn't been any new updates on their myspace since APRIL 2011 there is written " Stay tuned for more information regarding NEVERMORE " !!!!!
THAT's LONG TIME!!!

Does anyone know what's happening? Is this definite the end?

I hope they'll find way to solve it...

I thought they broke up last year?

Posted by: WeePee Sep 5 2012, 12:42 PM

Isn't Myspace format "dead" ? Nobody really updates their sites.
And Loomis has his solo band.

Posted by: Cosmin Lupu Sep 5 2012, 12:49 PM

Attila has another band as well, out of what I have seen on FB from his updates..

Posted by: TreyDeschamp Sep 5 2012, 01:17 PM

Yeah they broke up. Well, they might still be a band....but Loomis and I think the drummer are gone.

Last time I talked to Warrel (which was after the split) the band officially existed, but actually only on paper, there were no plans for any activities. Warrel and Jim are focusing on Sanctuary, while Jeff and Van are doing their own projects. And to be honest, for me Nevermore are those 4 guys, combined, I can't really imagine this band with different members.

Posted by: Slavenko Erazer Sep 5 2012, 04:09 PM

Yes, i also can't imagine the band without Loomis and Dane.
I'm also big fan of Sanctuary, have their both records, but Nevermore's simply better.
I hope they'll find way to sort things out..

We will see, I also hope they will get back together at some point, I loved them, we had so much fun together on the road and they did incredible albums.

"This Godless Endeavor"

After that record they need not worry about there reputation, that is a flawless album. There is absolutely zero wrong with it.

Posted by: Slavenko Erazer Sep 6 2012, 09:25 AM

Yeah, one of the better albums in History of metal...
Obsidian Conspiracy is not so good, but it's not reason for break-up... sad.gif

Posted by: Marcus Siepen Sep 6 2012, 04:59 PM

The album was not the reason, and I have to say I really liked it.

I hope they will get back together. Maybe a long break from Nevermore is what they all need. Hopefully whatever broke the band up will eventually blow over.

O.C. was actually quite brilliant, very different and a ballsy move. I admire that as well.

well, godless endeavor is an awesome album - the title track alone is worth the money and is one of the outstanding tracks in metal when you look at the last years..

although I have to admit that the obsidian conspiracy didn´t move me the same way then godless endeavor...
but you should check out the solo record of warrel dane which is quite cool..

nevertheless, I hope for another nevermore album in the furture cause I was a sanctuary fan (saw them in austria for the first time I think it was 1990) yeras ago and a nevermore fan and I will still be if they release a new album

I actually did a review of Warrel Dane's album the day of release for GMC some years ago.

In short, its amazing. This Old Man is just awesome.

Posted by: Marcus Siepen Sep 7 2012, 08:28 AM

Yup, Warrel has a great voice. Well, the whole band was very good.

Yeah, i would agree on this.. Obsidian Conspiracy is maybe the weakest album after the first one "Nevermore" ... Production's great but there's no much balls and SIGNATURE NEVERMORE RIFFS like on Goddless Endeavour and Enemies Of Reality .. this is less complex and more accessible than The Godless Endeavor and other older works..
Don't poke on me DIE-Hard Nevermore Fans, i have listened to every single their' album at least 99 times tried Obsidian for 9 playing times and this just sound more as extension to Warrel's solo album, then premium nevermore album ...
Honestly though no hooks stick with me, no riffs pulverize me except on the title-track. Loomis' solos are really short and are not as big an element on this record than in the past. This might be the guitar player in me weeping but I was just severely disappointed in this. The opening track's intro sounds awesome, and then the verse starts and there's no momentum.

Yeah, I was cruising Bladdermouth hoping for some more juicy stories but I thought I'd share this as it was good timing after you brought up the subject ! wink.gif

I saw this live when I was 15, I seriously couldnt even comprehend it. I mean the whole song is a masterpiece.

Best ending to an album....EVER

They are an absolutely phenomenal band, but I think my favourite album by them will always be "Dreaming Neon Black". The atmosphere that is within that album is so ridiculously dark and heavy. For me it is their best work.
