A question that has accompanied me for quite some time now: what is groove? Can we define it? Is it intentional? Can we learn and teach it?
Also, could you recommend any good reading / interviews about groove with or from musicians?

Hey guys,

long time no see - I've been busy studying in different places, but also focusing more on keys than strings...but I always loved the community here! Right now, I am doing a course on music perception, and one of the tasks we are given is to do an experiment about "how quickly can you recognize a music track"? If you've got a couple of spare minutes (it shouldn't take longer than 10 minutes, but it all depends on how quick you are...), I would be super glad if you could participate in the survey we have to do for that course and maybe let me know how to improve the experiment as well!
And I guarantee you it is good fun smile.gif If you guys want, i can share our results (and hypothesis tongue.gif) later on!

There you go:

Hello my friends! In a few days, I'll start my volunteering program in Belgrad, Serbia. I'll take the bass guitar with me, probably will lend or buy a guitar - but I also play the piano! I'm now wondering where I could find opportunities, to play between once and three times a week. I've got a friend who is studying piano, and she can play the piano in her university... so I contacted now the music university of Belgrad, but haven't got an answer yet.
So I ask you, those who live in Belgrad, if they know any possibility or those who were in the same situation (living somewhere without piano), how did you search to find an opportunity? Did you have to pay?

Hey my dear friends on GMC!

I've decided that after my school end next year in July, I won't go to university directly. I know that I will start studying a year later, but I don't know yet which subject I'll be doin'. Therefore I'll go working in areas which I'm interested in. Altough, a year is long and I want to travel.
Since my favourite hobbies are photography and music, these will be my main issues. I can imagine headin' festivals during the summer, havin' jams on the road, step by jazz clubs etc as well as searching amazing places and people to take photographs of. Yeah, another idea behind a travel is cultural exchange, so I want to meet new people smile.gif
I now have a whole year to work on this dream. What I am sure is, that at first, I'll travel through Europe. I'm also interested in couchsurfing.
Since GMC is my favourite community, maybe I could meet some of you, to have a jam, a nice afternoon, some tips on what I should visit in your area, maybe someone would want to join me in exploring an area or the best would be if there are some who want to lend me a couch smile.gif
Europe will not be the only area which I'll explore, but I have to check which other continent appeals the more to me, I'll inform you!

So if anybody is interested in helping me (there is nothing fix yet, it is still one year to go smile.gif), just let a message here in the forum and then we'll move on a more private way to communicate like messenger or email ;-)

Hello my friends smile.gif
Today, I want to share an experience (as well as a suggestion for GMC) with you!
I've started playing the guitar a year ago and immediately joined GMC. Two times I started the MTP program, but wasn't able to finish it. It was not at all Ivan's guilt!!
I regularly jam with a friend who started the same time as me - about two month ago I noticed that he was far better than me! As lead as well ass rhythm guitarist. Since my GMC account expired, I asked myself if 30 euro really were worth it, if I learned lessons only half-hearted, because they are too difficult for a guitar newbie! I felt somehow stuck at a very low level.

Therefore I sought through the internet, found other guitar online lessons. There the very first steps were split in a lot of lessons. Most of it I already knew, but I worked through these lessons very accurately. I concentrated for a month on the rhythm guitar. And yeah, I'm now able to play a chord progression with various chords and with various strumming patterns in a natural way smile.gif I really feel comfortable on this now and found a new motivation to play more guitar in my holidays.

Don't understand me wrong. If anyone asks me what is the best guitar online site, I'd tell them "GMC" without hesitation. On the whole internet I wasn't able to find people like you, such a lovely and competent community, such carrying instructors with such creative lessons. Although, for real guitar newbies, there aren't any lessons to start, and if one has no base, it's difficult to pursue the lovely lessons here on GMC.

I'll renew my subscription in two month, when I've worked through the beginner lessons of the other online site. But I'm glad, I've found my problem and now really can begin to rock cool.gif
