I hope anyone with POD HD 500 experience can help me.

To record video for the REC zone (so just to show to the instructors, nothing so professional) I created a patch on the POD with 2 path. The first with Guitar as Input source with the modelled amp/effects, the second is without amp/effect with AUX as Input source. The aux is my pc where I get the backing track I need to use to record the lesson. I use POD HD Edit to balance the sounds using the Levels on the mix. The video recording software pick the sound from the POD and all was working well.

All of sudden in the recorded video (so not the sound I can monitor through headphone) the Backing track has a very high level while the guitar is very low or even inaudible.

Any idea what went wrong?
Thanks in advance
Carmine

How are you recording video? Web cam? You could just use your DAW, like REAPER and play along and record it using your camera/mic setup.

I"d say skip using the pod as a mixer smile.gif Download the backing track, put it in your daw. Run guitar/pod/daw and record yourself to another track in your daw. Now you can use the mixer in the DAW to control your levels smile.gif

So theres that sorted. Now on to video! How are you recording video?

I use just a video record software (mostly windows movies maker). I do not know how to use Reaper and do not like to sync video and audio.
Thanks so much for taking time to read and answer.

Can you drop the backing straight into the video software then you can have the software record audio from the POD but that method would yield bad audio quality.

I'd look into reaper or cool edit pro. They are free if I remember rightly and learning how to use these DAW's is a great benifet to muscians

Your suggestion to him is what I'm actually trying to suggest to you MITH smile.gif Using a daw is very handy for this type of thing. YOu can record your performance in to your daw and depending on what you are using to record video, just pull the video and audio together in your video editing software after you are done recording. It doesn't have to happen live smile.gif

Lol,
But that is what I do. I record in Cubase 7.5 and a web cam then combine then in Sony Vegas. I use my POD for the guitar tones (Really considering a AXE FX tho)

When I said the above is what I do I was referring to what you do. Was just pointing out you can run the backing into the POD and use it as a really small mixer but its a painful way to go about it.

Probably just worded it badly

I'm with Myth and Todd about this. The best way to have well balanced backing + guitar take tracks is using a daw that allows you to mix it later. I know that this can be tricky at first but it won't take more than 1 day of experimentation.

Everything is clearly explained on this video (but using free plugin amp emulators instead of Pod, you can replace this step)

If only there was a DAW with simple video recording and super basic video editing (you can actually edit video in cubase kinda (actually I might mess around with that, Might make syncing easy))

^That Vid Gab put up is great.

Ahh smile.gif When you said "the above is what I do" I didn't get at all that you meant me. I thought you were referring to your other post that said what you did. Not my post saying what I did. But now that's cleared up smile.gif

Your original post was about using the pod itself as a mixer and having volume issues, yes? To which I suggested, not using the pod as a mixer. But it sounds like, now, that you already are not using as a mixer, but instead were just experimenting?

Well then smile.gif There's that. Skip the pox as a mixer wink.gif
